Magazine Production Process

Pre-Production- Content
Pre production of content is where the team of editors come together to come up
with ideas of what should be in the magazine and the editors assign writers to
research and write on a specific article

Pre-Production- Flat Planning
This Pre production of flat planning is to help see where the content goes and on
which page it should go to help them figure out what works and where adverts
should also go and this stage is important to make sure the next steps are
organised and with expectations

Production
The team including the writers will plan the article and conduct research. The
articles they are doing will be written and they will do and arrange the photoshoots

Production- writing and sub-editing
At this stage the sub-editor will check everything like spelling grammar and length
like whether it is too short or too long to make them write more or remove some or
write less and use desktop publishing software like quark to lay out the article,
image and content and use pre-made templates in line with the house style and
this stage is important because all the magazine pages are done.

Post Production- Checking Printers Proof
It is sent to the publishers and they will then create a mock-up to give to editors for
their final approval

Post Production- Completion and Distribution
This stages starts once the editors are ok with it to be published and the copies are
printed and assembled and sent to a distribution company then to retailers then
customers
