My group topic is crime

The subtopic i have chosen is gangs since its linked to crime

I chose this sub-topic because gang violence has affected many people in my
community, including my own family. This issue is especially personal to me
because, years ago, I had a friend who lost his life due to gang-related violence.
I want to bring awareness to this ongoing crisis, which is often ignored or
dismissed as just another part of life

For my oral presentation, I decided to deliver a speech because I believe it is the


most effective way to clearly and easily communicate my message.

It will be done in a formal register since it makes my message clear, professional,


and appropriate for the severity of my subtopic

Good day, miss Today, I want to talk about an issue that affects all of us crime.

Crime is a growing concern in Trinidad and Tobago. Every day, we hear about
robberies, murders, and violence on the news. Families live in fear, businesses
struggle, and communities suffer. But one of the biggest drivers of crime in our
country is gangs.

Gangs are not just a group of people hanging out; they are organized networks
involved in illegal activities. Many young people are drawn into gangs because of
poverty, peer pressure, or lack of opportunities. Some see it as a way to make
quick money, gain respect, or find a sense of belonging. But what they don’t
realize is that joining a gang often leads to violence, imprisonment, or even
death.

Gang violence is one of the main reasons for the high murder rate in Trinidad.
Rival gangs fight over territory, drugs, and power. Innocent people get caught in
the crossfire, and families are torn apart. The cycle of violence continues because
once someone joins a gang, leaving is almost impossible.

So, what can we do? First, we must address the root causes poverty, lack of
education, and unemployment. If young people have better opportunities, they are
less likely to turn to gangs. Second, the police and government must take strong
action against gangs, while also working with communities to provide support and
alternatives for at risk youth.

But it’s not just up to them it’s up to us too. We must encourage young people to
make better choices, to stay in school, and to avoid bad influences. We must build
stronger communities where people look out for each other.

Gangs destroy lives, but we have the power to change this. Let’s choose a safer,
better Trinidad and Tobago.
