Train Length Calculation from Overtaking

The document contains a series of train-related problems involving speed, length, and time taken to cross various objects. Each problem presents specific conditions and asks for calculations related to the lengths of trains or the time taken to cross platforms and other trains. The scenarios include trains moving in the same and opposite directions, as well as interactions with stationary objects like poles and bridges.

1.

Two trains of same length are running in parallel tracks in the same direction with speed 60 km/hr
and 90 km/hr respectively. The latter completely crosses the former in 30 seconds. The length of
each train (in metres) is
2. A train overtakes two persons who are walking in the same direction in which the train is going, at
the rate of 2 kmph and 4 kmph and passes them completely in 9 and 10 seconds respectively. The
length of the train is
3. Train 'A' running at a speed of 144 km/hr crosses a pole in 12.5 seconds. If train 'A' crosses
another train 'B' which running at speed of 45 m/s in opposite direction in 12 seconds, then find
the length of train 'B'.
4. If 156 meters long train which is running at speed of 72 km/hr cross a 'x' meters long platform in
15 seconds, then find time (in seconds) taken by another train which length is 216 meters and
running at speed of 54 km/hr to cross the same platform.
5. A train of X meter long crosses the man standing on a platform in 9 sec and same train crosses the
(X + 50) meters bridge in 19 sec. Find time taken by train to cross another train (X - 200) meters
running in opposite direction with the speed of 72 km/hr.
6. A 480 meters long train P crosses a pole in 30 seconds. The speed of train Q is 80% of the speed of
train P. If train Q can cross 212 meters long bridge in 40 seconds, then find the length of train Q is
how much percentage more/less than that of train P?
7. A train having speed 72 kmph crosses a platform of certain length in 24 seconds. In order to cross
the platform in 16 seconds the speed of the train should be increased by _________kmph.
8. The speeds of two trains A and B is 36 kmph & 54 kmph respectively. The length of train A and B is
280 meters and L meters respectively. If both train A and B running in opposite direction and train
A crosses the train B in 18 seconds, then find L.
9. X meters long train crosses a 240-metre-long platform in 36 seconds. If the train can cross a tree
in 20 seconds, then it takes ___________seconds to cross a '0.5X' meters long bridge. What value
should come in the place of blank space.
10. 240 meters long train crosses a pole in x seconds, while the train can cross a 360 meters long
platform in x+9 seconds. Find the time taken by the train to cross a dog which running in the
direction of the train at speed of 36 km/hr.
