Lesson Plan in Language 1

I. OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
a. Recognize the punctuation marks used in question and command sentences.
b. Demonstrate attentiveness and respect when giving or following commands.
c. Apply question and command sentences effectively in real-life communication.

II. SUBJECT MATTER


Topic: Different Types of Sentences (Focus on Questions & Commands)

Materials: PowerPoint Presentation, sentence strips, chart, flashcards

III. PROCEDURE
a. Preliminaries
 Prayer and Greetings
 Checking of Attendance
 Classroom Management: Ensure students are seated properly and ready to
learn.

b. Review
 Recall the previous lesson on Statements and Exclamations.
 Ask students:
-What is a statement? What punctuation does it use?
-What is an exclamation? How does it express strong emotion?
 Show sentences from the last lesson and have students classify them as
statements or exclamations.

c. Motivation
 Show two scenarios:
-A teacher asking, "What is your favorite subject?"
-A teacher saying, "Write your name on the paper."
 Ask: How are these sentences different?

d. Presentation
1. Question Sentences
 A question asks something and ends with a question mark (?).
 It often begins with Who, What, Where, When, Why, How, Do, or Is.
 Examples:
-"Where do you live?"
-"Did you bring your book?"
 Activity: Have students ask each other simple questions.
2. Command Sentences
 A command gives an order, request, or instruction.
 It usually ends with a period (.), but strong commands may use an
exclamation mark (!).
 Examples:
-"Close the door."
-"Please listen carefully."
 Activity: Have students follow simple commands (e.g., "Stand up," "Raise your
right hand").

e. Application
 Game: "Sort It Out!"
 Prepare sentence strips with questions and commands.
 Students will sort them into two categories: Question or Command.
 After sorting, they will read them aloud with the correct tone.

f. Generalization
 Ask students:
-What is a question sentence? What punctuation does it use?
-What is a command sentence? How do we recognize it?
