Subject: Business Studies

Topic: Forms Of Ownership

Objectives:

1. Students will be able identify the different forms of ownership.


2. Students will be able to state the advantages and disadvantage of these forms of
ownership.
3. Students will explore the importance of choosing the correct form of ownership for
your business.

Learner engagement activity

Encouraging Student Engagement

One of the key activities used in this lesson was a group exploration of ownership
models. In this collaborative group activity, students were divided into small teams
and each team was assigned a specific form of ownership. Teams were tasked with
identifying a form of ownership and providing its characteristics, advantages, and
disadvantages.

The success of these activity

1. Active participation: The hands-on nature of the activity encouraged students to be


active participants in the learning process, promoting engagement and enthusiasm.
Students take ownership of their learning, which is essential for deep understanding.

2. Collaboration: Working in teams allowed students to improve their collaboration


skills by discussing roles, sharing ideas, and negotiating tasks. This peer interaction
not only reinforced content knowledge, but also developed important social skills.

3. Real-world connections: Students used a variety of scenarios to create real-world


connections through different forms of ownership.

Shortcomings and how to address these


Challenges

While the sessions were largely successful, some shortcomings are worth noting.
Some groups fought cooperation, which led to an uniform participation. Several
students dominated the discussion, but other students were not involved so much,
so there was no fair contribution to the activity. Additionally, time management posed
issues; some groups were unable to complete their activity due to insufficient time
allocated for the task.

Future Improvements

To address these shortcomings in future lessons, I would implement the following


strategies:

1. Structured roles: Assigning specific roles within each group (e.g. leader,
researcher, builder, speaker) can promote equal participation and ensure that all
voices are heard.

2. Guided Time Management:Introducing a timeline with checkpoints could help


keep groups on track, allowing for adjustments if they fall behind. Regular progress
checks would encourage accountability

. 3. Reflection session: After the activity,, introduce a reflection session where


students discuss what went well and the challenges they faced. This will allow
students to study their own experience.

By controlling the shortcomings observed and improving my approach, I can create a


more inclusive and efficient educational environment, where all students flourish.
