INTRODUCTION
BY DEFINITION, FORCE SENSOR IS A TYPE OF
TRANSDUCER, SPECIFICALLY A FORCE
TRANSDUCER. IT CONVERTS AN INPUT
MECHANICAL FORCE SUCH AS LOAD, WEIGHT,
TENSION, COMPRESSION OR PRESSURE INTO
ANOTHER PHYSICAL VARIABLE, IN THIS CASE,
INTO AN ELECTRICAL OUTPUT SIGNAL THAT
CAN BE MEASURED, CONVERTED AND
STANDARDIZED. AS THE FORCE APPLIED TO THE
FORCE SENSOR INCREASES, THE ELECTRICAL
SIGNAL CHANGES PROPORTIONALLY.

PIEZOELECTRIC SENSORS
Piezoelectric sensors are devices that convert
mechanical energy into electrical energy. These
devices work on the principle of piezoelectricity,
which is the property of certain materials to
generate an electric charge when subjected to
mechanical stress.

INDUCTIVE SENSOR
An inductive sensor, also known as an proximity
sensor or a proximity switch, is a type of non-
contact sensor that detects the presence or
absence of an object in its proximity by using
electromagnetic fields. It works by emitting a high-
frequency electromagnetic field from a coil and
detecting changes in the field caused by the
presence of an object in its range

STRAIN GAUGE

Metal foil strain gage is a sensor whose electrical

resistance varies with applied force. In other
words, it converts (or transduces) force, pressure,
tension, compression, torque, weight, etc… into a
change in electrical resistance, which can then be
measured.

CAPACITIVE FORCE SENSOR

A capacitive force sensor is

a type of force sensor that
utilizes the principle of
capacitance to measure
applied forces. It is
specifically designed to
convert mechanical force
into changes in capacitance,
allowing for force
measurement.
HOW CAPACITIVE FORCE SENSORS WORK

Capacitive force sensors work by

measuring the change in
capacitance between two parallel
plates as a force is applied to
them.
When a force is applied to the
plates, the distance between
them changes, and the
capacitance changes accordingly.
This change in capacitance is
measured and converted into a
force measurement.

CONCLUSION

IN CONCLUSION, FORCE SENSORS ARE DEVICES THAT

MEASURE THE FORCE APPLIED TO AN OBJECT AND ARE USED
IN A VARIETY OF APPLICATIONS SUCH AS INDUSTRIAL
AUTOMATION, MEDICAL DEVICES, AND CONSUMER
ELECTRONICS. FORCE SENSORS PLAY A CRUCIAL ROLE IN
IMPROVING THE QUALITY AND SAFETY OF PRODUCTS AND
PROCESSES. OVERALL, FORCE SENSORS HAVE A BRIGHT
FUTURE AHEAD.
