RATIONALE : Mathematics is essential for everyday life, for understanding and
engaging with our world. It enables the development of pupils’
natural ability to think logically, solve puzzles and apply these skills
to real-life problems.
Mathematics is the essential subject in every curriculum. It
teaches the learners perform the basic four fundamental operations
and eventually lead them to more complex which is the word
problem solving. Different mathematics strategies of today 21 st
century learning do not perform well and it is quiet alarming in a way
mathematics are taught. Mathematics is a necessity for people of all
ages to be successful in life (Andaya, 2012).
According to William Paul Thurston, “Mathematics is not about
numbers, equation, computation, or algorithms; it is about
understanding.” Without mathematics, there’s nothing you can do.
Everything around you is mathematics. Everything around you is
numbers (Shakuntala Devi).
Mathematics is a complicated subject that needs focus and
emphasized understanding especially in word problem solving which
means to immerse in more activities to develop a meaningful link
between mathematical concepts and principles followed by mastering
basic skills. It is useful in the advancement of technology and it helps
the pupils understand fully the working of universe. Unless children
will be motivated to persist in Mathematics and make it part of their
lives, they will not succeed in life (TIMMS, 2011).
Mathematics is a pillar of almost all the streams in academic
sectors. Given the important role mathematics plays in tertiary
education and most careers, it is not only beneficial but also essential
to establish some of the factors that facilitate achievement in
mathematics in disadvantaged schools.
The school will conduct an intervention that will enhance the
mathematical ability of the pupil. The activity is facilitated by the
leadership of the Math Coordinator and assisted by the Supreme
Pupil Government Officers SY 2022-2023.
The main objectives of the Mathematics Interventions , to wit:
1. To help pupils become more successful mathematics learners
by building their understanding of essential content as well as
their motivation and confidence;
2. To appreciate the usefulness, power and beauty of
mathematics;
3. To enjoy mathematics and develop patience and persistence
when solving problems; and
4. To become confident in using mathematics to analyze and
solve problems both in school and in real-life situations.

METHODOLOGY : Mathematics Intervention Activities are to be conducted through:
1. Peer Tutoring
This is a form of mentorship that usually takes place
between a person who had knowledge in mathematics and to
learners who are struggling in mathematics.
2. Game-based learning
Learning that is facilitated by the use of a game. In
mathematics it can be easier and more fun if it is learned
using appropriate media and technology. Mathematics should
be taught in a fun way so that students are excited and easy to
understand mathematics.
3. Formative Assessment
It is a planned, ongoing process used by all students and
teachers during learning and teaching to elicit and use
evidence of student learning to improve student understanding
of intended disciplinary learning outcomes and support
students to become self-directed learners.
4. Groupings
Organized activity of ten or more individuals, whether
recreational, non-profit, commercial, or otherwise, involving
the use or planned.
5. Conduct of E-RUNT
This intervention strategies will administer every day, during
lunch time and/or after class hours in the afternoon, where SPGO
were given tasks to hold or to assist pupils with difficulties in
mathematics. This is to be led and headed by the Math Coordinator
and assisted by the Supreme Pupil Government (SPG) Officers. For
the success of the projects and activities, teachers handling
mathematics will also help to conduct the following activities.

BUDGETARY : Mathematics Intervention is funded through teacher’s initiative
REQUIREMENTS with the following estimated expenses:
Expenses to be incurred:
Bond paper : ₱ 1,000.00
MONITORING AND
EVALUATION : The School Principal will supervise for the monitoring and
evaluating the whole duration of the activities. It is expected to
monitor the compliance of the school in the implementation of the
numeracy program and gather MOVs to be submitted together with
the narrative report.
