Data Collection Methods Data collection method is an important aspect in completing a research study as it helps in determining the ability

of the researcher assists him in collecting the relevant information. For a research study, there are two types of methods for data collection, which could be used by the researcher. Following are the major types of data collection methods: Primary data collection methods: Primary data collection methods are the methods that help the researcher to obtain new and fresh data that is not achieved earlier. This data is obtained first time to explore the particular research problem and also published first time. There are several methods such as interview, observation, questionnaire, survey, focus group, etc. that are used to collect the primary data for a research problem. Primary data is effective to increase the authenticity and reliability of the research results as it helps to obtain real world information. Secondary data collection methods: Secondary data collection methods could be described as the methods that help the researcher to obtain data that has already published or obtained by someone else for some other purpose. This data could be published or unpublished. It could be obtained from the diaries, journal articles, scholars, books, magazines and other researchers. This data helps to increase the authenticity of the research as it supports the findings from the previous researches.
