There was a man named Toba who married a woman

01 who had been cursed into a fish, and they have a son
named Samosir. When Toba breaks a promise to the
woman, it leads to a catastrophic event or destruction.

There was a girl, mistreated by her stepmother and


stepsisters, who was transformed into a princess by
02 her fairy godmother and captured the prince's heart at
the royal ball. She left behind a glass slipper and was
reunited with the prince when he found her by fitting
the slipper, leading to a happy ending
CLUE

This is an Indonesian urban legend about a beautiful woman


(ghost) who frequented a bridge in Jakarta. She lured
03 unsuspecting men to the bridge and often led to eerie or tragic
encounters. The story serves as a cautionary tale, warning people
to be cautious when encountering strangers, especially at night.

There was a young princess named Elara who discovers a


mysterious phoenix egg hidden deep within the royal gardens.
04 As she nurtures the egg, a powerful phoenix hatches, forming a
deep bond with her. Together, they embark on a quest to
restore harmony to their kingdom, facing perilous challenges
and discovering their true destinies along the way.

DEFINITION
DEFINITION
Narrative text is a text that tells an imaginative story, something
fictional.
purpose: to entertain/amuse the readers

STRUCTURE
1. Orientation - the characters, setting, and background problems
are introduced
2. Complication - the conflict of the story. (rising action: the conflict
escalates, climax: the conflict reaches its peak, falling action: the
conflict cools down)
3. Resolution - the story gets its own closure. It may be closed with
happy ending, sad ending, or cliffhanger.
4. Coda - the moral value of the story, or servers the charaters final
form after development.
FAIRY TALE

A FICTIONAL STORY THAT INVOLVES MAGICAL EVENTS A


IMAGINARY CREATURES (WITCH, FAIRY, MONSTERS). MOSTLY FAIRY
TALES PASSED DOWN FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION.

ex: beauty and the beast, cinderella, etc.

FOLKTALE (DONGENG)

A traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but
unauthenticated. Legends usually relate to historical figures or places. ex:
sangkuriang, roro jonggrang

is used to describes actions or events in a time before now, which
began in the past and were still goin when another even occured.

REPORTED SPEECH
DIRECT SPEECH

Direct speech is a sentence in which the exact words spoken are


reproduced in speech marks (also known as quotation marks or
inverted commas). Direct speech is used to report or rather repeat
the words spoken by the speaker or writer in the way it is told by
the speaker. Moreover, it is defined as “a speaker’s actual words”

ex:
The young prince said, "I am the rightful heir to the throne."
I do not believe in the existence of magical creatures," the
queen stated.
INDIRECT SPEECH

Indirect speech is a sentence in which the general points of what


someone has said are reported, without actually writing the
speech out in full. It is sometimes called reported speech.

ex:
The young prince said that he was the rightful heir to the
throne.
The queen stated that she did not believe in the existence of
magical creatures.
HOW TO CHANGE IT

1. Remove the quotation mark (“)


2. Change capital letter into small caps
3. Add Conjunction that (optional)
4. Change the pronoun (third option)
5. Shift back the tenses into past*
6. Correct time reference*
