SUMMARY
The lack of available rooms and poor conditions of comfort rooms or its maintenance is one
issue in our university. Northwest Samar State University is a public university that offers a free
tuition, caliber education and provides a quality education to students. Due to its growing
number of enrolled students, it getting harder to maintain cleanliness in comfort rooms and its
getting hard to find available rooms. These problems negatively affect students’ learning
experiences, academic performance, and overall well-being. This case analysis examines the
causes, impacts, and potential solutions to these issues.
II. INTRODUCTION
struggle to have rooms that could cater all students due to increasing student enrollment and
limited government funding, though we have new buildings but still it can’t accommodate the
growing enrollees in our university. Classrooms are overcrowded, that leads to poorly maintained
comfort rooms pose sanitation and hygiene concerns. These issues need urgent interventions to
ensure a conducive learning environment.
III. PROBLEM STATEMENTS
A. Unavailability of Classrooms
• Overcrowding and High Enrollment – Public universities accommodate more
students than their infrastructure can support, leading to a shortage of classrooms.
• Deterioration of Existing Classrooms – Some classrooms are no longer usable due
to lack of maintenance, further reducing available space.
B. Issues in Comfort Rooms
• Poor Sanitation and Cleanliness – Many university restrooms lack proper cleaning
and maintenance, leading to unhygienic conditions.
• Overcrowding– Due to the growing number of students it’s difficult to maintain
cleanliness.
• Lack of Basic Facilities – Many restrooms suffer from broken toilets, broken
doorknob, non-functional sinks, and no running water or toilet paper.
IV. POSIBLE SOLUTIONS/ RECCOMENDATIONS
A. Addressing Classroom Shortages
• Increased Government Investment – Higher education budgets should allocate
funds for constructing new classrooms due to growing numbers of students.
• Equal Access for all – Universities instructor should let other instructor use their
rooms if not in use not to be locked.
• Hybrid and Online Learning – implementing a blended instruction or expanding
digital learning options can reduce the demand for physical classrooms.
B. Improving Comfort Room Conditions
• Regular Maintenance and Cleaning – Universities should implement strict
cleaning schedules and assigned staff to maintain restroom hygiene regularly.
• Renovation and Maintenance – Allocate funds to repair damaged toilets, sinks, and
plumbing systems.
• Educate Students- be strict to educate students to maintain the tidiness of comfort rooms
since it will be used by everyone.
V. CONCLUSION
a public university offering free tuition and quality education, faces problems due to its growing
number of students. Despite having new buildings, there aren’t enough classrooms to
accommodate everyone, leading to overcrowding. Additionally, the comfort rooms are poorly
maintained, causing hygiene and cleanliness issues. These problems negatively impact students'
learning, academic performance, and well-being. The university needs urgent action to address
these issues and provide a better learning environment. To address these challenges, increased
funding, better facility management, and collaboration between universities and government
agencies are needed. Expanding infrastructure, improving space management, and implementing
innovative solutions can enhance the academic experience for both students and faculty.
