“Your destiny can’t be changed, but it can be challenged. -Martin Heidegger
” Narration:
Hi, I’m Mieljhon Aaron from BS Architecture 1A. Today, I want to share how the subject Understanding
the Self has transformed me into a better version of myself. Reflecting on who I was before and after
taking this subject has been an eye-opening experience, and I hope my story inspires you too.
Before taking Understanding the Self, I faced a lot of struggles in my daily life. I didn’t have control over
my emotions. Small things would easily irritate me, and I’d often get angry without thinking. This
behavior not only affected me but also my relationships with others. I also lacked discipline in my
studies. I often slacked off during classes, didn’t take lectures seriously, and procrastinated on my
projects. Instead of working on assignments, I spent most of my time playing games like Mobile Legends,
Wuthering Waves, and Clash of Clans. It felt like I was trapped in a cycle of distractions and poor time
management.
I didn’t have a proper schedule, and my days were chaotic. I would often rush to complete my projects at
the last minute, which led to stress and subpar results. Looking back, I realize I was stuck in a pattern of
bad habits that held me back from reaching my full potential. I knew I needed a change, but I didn’t
know where to start.
After taking Understanding the Self, I began to see the importance of self-awareness and personal
growth. One of the first things I learned was the power of time management. I started using a calendar
to organize my tasks and plan my days. It’s true what they say: “the calendar is the second brain.” By
scheduling my time, I’ve been able to prioritize my responsibilities and ensure that I meet deadlines
without the last-minute rush. This simple habit has reduced my stress and improved the quality of my
work.
Another key lesson I learned is the importance of self-reflection. Through this subject, I understood that
stepping back and analyzing my actions can make a huge difference. I’ve started to pause and think
before reacting to situations, which has helped me control my emotions. Now, even in the worst cases, I
remain calm and collected. I’ve become what they call a “chill guy.” Instead of letting anger or frustration
take over, I strategize and find solutions to problems. This mindset has not only improved my
relationships but also made me more resilient in the face of challenges.
One surprising thing that has helped me grow is watching movies and series. For example, the series
Steins;Gate has been a great influence on my thinking. It’s not just an entertaining show; it’s full of
philosophical and logical lessons that can apply to real life. The series taught me about the value of
persistence and careful decision-making. It’s amazing how stories can inspire us to think differently and
approach life with a new perspective.
One of my favorite quotes from Steins;Gate is, “Tsuyoi kakugo wa fukanou o kanou ni suru” (“A strong
determination can make the impossible possible”). This reminds me that with the right mindset and
effort, I can overcome any obstacle. Another quote that resonates with me is, “Jikan wa daremo matte
kurenai” (“Time waits for no one”). It’s a powerful reminder to make the most of every moment and not
waste time on things that don’t add value to my life. If you’re looking for a series that’s both entertaining
and thought-provoking, I highly recommend watching Steins;Gate. Its philosophical and logical depth
makes it more than just a story—it’s a source of inspiration and life lessons.
Now, I approach life with a sense of purpose and direction. I’ve learned to balance my studies, hobbies,
and personal growth. My journey hasn’t been perfect, and there are still areas where I’m working to
improve. But the progress I’ve made so far motivates me to keep going.
To my fellow students: self-awareness and time management are the keys to success. Take the time to
reflect on your actions, set goals, and make plans to achieve them. Don’t be afraid to face challenges—
every obstacle is an opportunity to grow. And remember, life is a journey of continuous learning.
Embrace it and strive to be the best version of yourself.
Let me leave you with another inspiring quote from Steins;Gate: “Mirai wa watashitachi no te ni aru”
(“The future is in our hands”). This reminds us that we have the power to shape our lives and create the
future we want. So, take charge of your journey, stay inspired, and keep improving every day.
Thank you for listening to my story. I hope it motivates you to reflect on your own journey and take steps
toward becoming the best version of yourself.
