Motivation/Energizer (Manayon)

Scenario: The Balcony Scene (Romeo & Juliet) Sinemoto Edition

Costumes/Props: Minimal costumes such as a simple cloak for Romeo, a shawl for Juliet, an
apron for the Nanny, and a bottle for the Drunkard will do. A small stool can be Juliet's "balcony."

Intro: Good morning, everyone! Before we begin, I’ll be splitting you into two groups. The right
side will be Group 1, and the left side will be Group 2. Now, I’m sure many of you are familiar
with the Showtime segment SineMoto—well, we’re going to do something similar today, but with
a fun twist!

Group 1, your task is to pick two members to play Romeo and Juliet. Group 2, choose two
people to play a nanny and a drunkard. Once you’ve made your selections, please come up to
the front.

Here are your costumes.

We’ll be narrating the iconic balcony scene from Romeo and Juliet. But here's the twist: we'll be
guiding you through the scene, and you'll act it out as we go! Feel free to improvise your lines
and get creative with your character. When it's your turn, we'll call you to enter the scene, so for
now, please take a seat and wait for your cue.

Are you ready?

In 3, 2, 1… (Have someone count)

1. Opening Scene (1-3 Narrator is Manayon)

Narrator:
● The night is calm in Verona. But suddenly, Romeo sneaks into Juliet’s gardent (act)
● He seems very nervous as he look around, worried that he might get caught (act)
● Finally he looked at the balcony as if he’s longing for someone, what's is he thinking at
this very moment? (act + adlib)

Narrator:
● Juliet appears on the balcony dramatically (act)
 ● Gazing in the distance & sighing deeply (act)
● She started wondering and talking about love (act + adlib)

Narrator:
● Romeo is looking at Juliet intensely and begins to whisper her name softly. (act)
● But Juliet didn't heard him so he whispers again but this time louder (act)

2. Juliet and Romeo’s Interaction (Manayon)

Narrator:
● Juliet, hearing her name, looks down, her heart skipping a beat. (act)
● She’s so happy she started to cry (act)
● Romeo smiles up at her widely, and their eyes meet in the moonlight. (act)
*May music na dito yung careless whisper hshshs*
● Romeo started singing a love song (act)
● They start talking and asking each other questions flirtatiously (act + adlib) (starting with
Juliet then Romeo)

Narrator:
● As the two share a quiet moment, their love deepens. But suddenly…

3. The Drunkard

Narrator:
● The Drunkard enters, walking unsteadily. (act)
● He drinks from his bottle like there's no tomorrow. (act)
● He sees Romeo and Juliet and stops to look at them. (act)
● He gives them a side-eye, looking annoyed. (act)
● He gets so annoyed that he throws a tantrum and he goes back to drinking. (act)
● He walks toward them to interrupt their sweet moment. What will he say? (act + ad-lib)

3. The Nanny Intervenes (3-4 Narrator is Romboa)

Narrator:
● The Nanny hears the noise. (act)
● She quickly rushes over to check what’s going on. (act)
● The Nurse enters and is shocked by what she sees between Romeo and Juliet. (act)
● She’s so shocked that she hugs the Drunkard without thinking. (act)
● Then she starts scolding Romeo and Juliet for their forbidden love. (act)
● But this time, she does it while dancing. (act + ad-lib)

4. Chaos and Farewell

Narrator:
● The garden erupts in chaos. Romeo tries to explain his love for Juliet (act + adlib)
● Juliet pleads for him to stay (act + adlib)
● The Nurse and the drunkard are so upset they started dancing angrily. (act)
(All characters ad-lib their responses, reacting to each other.)

Narrator:
● As the guards approach, Romeo and Juliet shared one last moment by hugging each
other (act)

● Romeo hurries to escape. (act)
● Juliet calls out to him dramatically (act)
● The Nurse tries to calm Juliet (act)
● and the drunkard stumbles away, dancing his way out while drinking (act)

Closing Line:

Narrator: And so ends another noisy night in Verona.

"Let's give them a big round of applause!" (applause) And because of that, here's your prizes!"

Narrator: "Welcome to Queen Elizabeth I’s royal court, a center of culture and brilliance. The
Elizabethan Period, from 1558 to 1603, was a time of exploration, artistic triumph, and historical
milestones. Tonight, we meet the figures who shaped this golden age.”

1. Queen Elizabeth I – Batayola

Narrator:
"Presenting the Virgin Queen, the visionary leader of England’s golden age—Queen Elizabeth
I!"

Queen Elizabeth:
"Greetings, my loyal subjects! I am Queen Elizabeth I. Under my reign, we defeated the Spanish
Armada in 1588, securing England’s naval dominance. I encouraged exploration, leading to Sir
Francis Drake's circumnavigation of the globe. My golden age brought prosperity, culture, and
innovation. Now, before we meet the great minds who shaped our era….”

(Queen Elizabeth smiles and looks out over the court, then turns to the students with a playful
tone.)

"..As ruler, I’ve always had to keep an eye out for talent, especially from those around me. But if
you were in my court, what talent would you show to impress me—singing, acting, or
storytelling?"

(students will answer)

“Thank you, my subjects! Keep your talents sharp, for greatness awaits those who dare to
dream.”

(applause)

2. William Shakespeare (The Bard) – Jonathan

Narrator:
"Next, the master of words and playwright of legends—William Shakespeare!"

Shakespeare:
"Greetings! I am William Shakespeare, playwright and poet. My works explore the depths of
human emotion. Among my most beloved plays are Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet. In the
1590s, theaters flourished, and my words found their way to every corner of England. I
revolutionized drama by blending genres and perfecting iambic pentameter. My sonnets, such
as Sonnet 18 (‘Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?’), celebrate love and beauty."
(Shakespeare holds up a quill and looks thoughtful, as if preparing for his next play.)

"Ah, the art of titles! I have written plays with grand names like Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet.
But tell me, what’s a fun or silly title you’d give to a play about your life?"

conventions and inspired generations. My works, such as Tamburlaine and The Jew of Malta,
explore ambition and human flaws."

(Marlowe stands tall, dramatically pacing as if he were the hero of his own story.)

choose, would you rather play the hero or the villain in a story, and why?"

(Mary glances around, her tone soft and thoughtful as she speaks with the students.)

write a letter to your future self, what advice or encouragement would you include?"

(students will answer)

“Thank you for sharing. May your strength guide you always.”
