I. Objective
At the end of the lesson student should be able to:
a. Identify the characteristics of weather disturbance
b. Reflect the effect o0f weather disturbance
c. Describe the characteristic of weather disturbance
II. Subject Matter
Topic. Weather disturbance

Teacher Activities
1. Prayer
Everyone please stand for the opening prayer
(Angel of God)
2. Greetings
Good morning grade 5?
3. Attendance
Who is/ are absent today?
No
Great! Im glad that all f you are here today!
4. Setting Standards
Before we proceed, let me show you our classroom rules. Everybody read!
5. Drill
Lets have an activity class!
I have here a scramble word. All you need to do id to arrange the letter to
create a word. I will divide you into a four group.
G1. SUNNY
G2. RAINY
Review
Last week we discuss about the effect of soil erosion class.
What are the effect of soil erosion?
Very good!
So, in previous lesson we learn that when rocks are broken down into pieces it doesn’t
De
stay in one place. Others are transferred from one place to another place called erosion.
What do you call the materials that transported due erosion?
Very good!
Who else will be affected in soil erosion class aside from human?
Very good! Se
6. Motivation
This time, the class will have a group activity. This activity called picture puzzle. All
they have to do is to connect or puzzle the cutout pictures. I will divide the class into 4
groups and give 4 mins to finish this activities.

A. Development Activities
1. Presentation of the Lesson
Base on your activity, what do you think is our topic this morning.
Very good!
2. Discussion
This time we are going to learn about weather disturbance but before that lets
identify how many kinds of weather here in the Philippines.
Very good!
The sunny,rainy,windy and cloudy Its
So now lets proceed to the characteristics of weather disturbance.
What is weather disturbance?
Weather disturbance- a term used describe a change in atmospheric condition or
weather pattern.
- Known natural disaster because they can cause havoc on roads, power lines
4,
and buildings.
Did you know class that the phil. Experience an average of 20 typhoon a year. And the
biggest contributor of weather disturbance is the pacific ocean.
Factors affect weather disturbance
1. Air temperature
2. Air pressure
3. Humidity
4. Clouds
5. Precipitation
Al
6. Wind speed and direction
When factors changes and affect condition of the atmosphere weather disturbance may
occur.
LPA (low pressure area)- when air rises, less air pressure downward resulting to the
formation of low pressure area. It result rain and strong wind.
HPA ( high pressure area)
When cold air sink it results to high pressure area, since most of the air is pressing down
the air on the surface.
Tropical cyclone is one of characterize of weather disturbance and have different
name around the world depending on where they are, in Atlantic/eastern pacific ocean
they are known hurricanes, while the western pacific, they are called typhoon. In
Indian ocean they are recognized as cyclones.
Cyclones are very large and intense storms. But where do these giant storms come
form?
Starts with the warm water found near the equator. Cyclones only form in tropical
regions where the ocean is atleast 80 degress Fahrenheit. These worm water
evaporate creating warm moist air which act as fuel for the storm. Wind is also needed
for a cyclone to form many cyclones caused by winds blowing across the eastern
pacific ocean. This wind causes even more of the warm water to evaporate into the
air. The warm moist air then rises high into the atmosphere where it begins to cool.
Way up there the water vapor condenses back into liquid water droplets in the
atmosphere form clouds including big stormy cumulonimbus cloud. As the warm air
continues rising upward the winds beging blowing in a circular pattern around a
center. The spiraling winds gather up cluster big thurderstorm clouds. Onces the
spinning wind reach 74 miles per hour the storm has officially become a cyclone.
Cyclones are huge.
They can be 10 miles hih and over 1000 miles across. Once a cyclone hits land it runs
out of warm moist air and its winds begin to weaken and it cause lots of damage to
communities near the coast.
PAG ASA ( [Link] geophysical and astronomical service administration)
deliver reliable and relevant weather related information.
Classification of tropical Cyclone
Tropical Depression (TD)- tropical cyclone with maximum sustained wind up 61 kilo meters
per hour (Kph)
Weak low pressure with definite surface circulation
Tropical Storm- a tropical cyclone with a maximum wind speed of 62 to 88 kph when a
tropical depression intensifies it became a tropical storm.
Severe Tropical- with a maximum wind speed of 89 to 117 more organized and more
circular.
Typhoon – tropical cyclone with maximumwind speed of 118to220 kph, most of time
accompanied by heavy rain and strong winds.
Super Typhoon- tropical cyclone with maximum wind speed exceeding 220 kph. The
strongest tropical cyclone . Areas that hit by this kind face large amount of destruction.
Type and description of different public storm warning signal (PSWS)
PSW LEADTIME WIND IMPACT
(HRS) KPH
1 36 30-60 no damage to very
light damage
2 24 61-120 Light to moderate
damage
3 18 121-170 Moderate to heavy
damage
4 12 171-22- Heavy to very heavy
damage
5 12 More than Very heavy to
220 widespread damage
Effect of Weather Disturbance
It can damage properties and hurt people.
Strong winds can destroy power lines and communication lines.
Roads and bridges are damaged due to heavy rainfall and flooding
Destroy our means of livelihood
Heavy rains and strong winds can uproot trees damaged vegetation and our cross
that provide s flood.
Flash flood and landslide which can cause casualties and destruction of properties
Enrichment
I will show you a picture and ask some question based on it that are relevant to the
actual situation if calamity happens. It will be a group activity.

Q1. What do you observe in the pic?
Q2. What do you think happened in the place?
Q3. What do you think will people living in the home feel?
Q4. What do you think will they be able to do in that condition?
Generalization
Let’s have some recap
How many typhoon occur in the Philippines in a year?
What do you call in tropical cyclone in western pacific?
How about in Indian and eastern pacific?
What do you called when air moves over the surface of the ocean create a massive amount
of water vapor?
Very good!
Why it is weather disturbance is know a natural disaster?
What Lpa mean?
How about HPA?
What is pag asa and role?
Very good!
Class having this kind of disaster, what do you think will happen of those people affected?
Very good!
Application
Inside the column, analyze the following statement that describe the changes of the
weather before, during and after the typhoon. Put check(/) mark on the column that
correspond the condition of each statement
Statement Before typhoon During typhoon After typhoon
1. Some areas may be flooded
2. The sky is dark and clouds
3. Flash flood may occur due to heavy rainfall
