The goal of your LinkedIn content should be to establish an emotional connection

with your potential customers, add credibility to your profile, and show that you’re
someone reliable to work with.

Therefore, it means that your content needs to educate and provide value, entertain,
or inspire and motivate people.

It should do at least one of these, but if you can do two or all three, your posts have a
better chance of generating engagement.

The anatomy of a viral LinkedIn post

After analyzing 10s of viral LinkedIn posts, I have identified the common structure of
each one:

1. A strong hook

The purpose of the hook is to make a reader stop scrolling. So it needs to be short,
punchy, and straight to the point.

Avoid long sentences and complicated vocabulary.

My favorite hooks are:

● a question as a hook (immediate attention grabber making a reader pause

and reflect on the answer)

● X easy steps to… (10 easy steps to write better headlines) - easy to replicate,
adaptable to any niche, and instantly imply that the post is gonna be
actionable and won’t take long to read and digest.

Page 2
● Wondering how to… (Wondering how to increase your salary?) - helps to
address specific pain points and make it relatable to the audience
● This is the most underrated tip for… (This is the most underrated tip for
copywriting) - people like novelty whether it’s an entirely something new or a
fresh and interesting take on a familiar problem

11. Stop calling yourself a … if:
12. [topic] is NOT about:
13. Unpopular opinion: [share something controversial]

A good post looks a little bit like this — first, it’s visually appealing. You can notice
how sentences get longer and longer as the post goes on — this is to make the text
more fluid.

I talk directly to my reader. 2. I cut all the

unnecessary words because I want to be as clear

add a conclusion or a key takeaway for the post.

2. The “meat” of your post

Talk directly to your audience (use “you” pronoun)

Write in short sentences
Use double space between the lines
Try to make the posts visually appealing: the length of the sentences should
increase with every line

Share a personal story to ignite an emotional connection with the audience

Page 9
Use social proof to strengthen your point

Then I finish up the post with a logical conclusion

The post that followed this structure brought me 130k impressions and a major spike
in Taplio sign-ups

Page 10
Add images to catch the attention

If you have multiple images to share in one post, post them as carrousels

Page 11
Add short videos to your posts but make sure to include subtitles in case
people watch it without a sound

Post GIFs for “comment and get” content to tease people about what type of
content they will get after commenting

Page 12
3. Your CTA to trigger engagement

Now that you’ve written a killer hook that will stop the scroll and an engaging and
valuable post, you want people to take action after reading. How do you do this?
With a call to action or CTA.

There are three classic types of CTAs:

● check out external content like a landing page or newsletter

● follow you on LinkedIn
● engage with your post by leaving a comment or a like
If you need to put an external link, do it in the comments (because LinkedIn
decreases the reach of the posts with external links)

However, you can keep the link in your post, if you like the preview of it

Page 13
Here’s an example of a CTA at the end of the bottom of the post ****when you
want people to follow your content

An example of asking people to comment to get a lead magnet from you

Page 14
Stick to the “100 days” rule: you need to post consistently for 100 days to build
the habit of writing, signal to LinkedIn’s algorithm that you’re a content
creator, and build your first cohort of followers

Use Taplio’s scheduling feature to plan out your content. This will allow you to
post without being chronically online and prepare posts in batches

These three frameworks will have to keep your posts well-structured, straight to the
point, and engaging

Problem

Unset
Inflation is up.

Layoffs are increasing.

Lots of people's worlds are getting messed up right now.

Agitate

Unset
Here's the problem:

A lot of this is out of your control.

- You can't control inflation.

- You can't control being laid off.

- You can't control the stock market.

Page 23
Solution

Unset
But you can control how you're perceived in this world.

And in turn, how many new opportunities come your way in the
future.

That's why getting online and sharing your knowledge and

learnings is so important.

The best time to start doing this is literally right now.

Don't create or share on behalf of some company that might lay

you off next week.

- Be you.

- Share you.

- Create your own brand.

Your future self will thank you.

Problem

A month ago, I decided to stop drinking alcohol for 30 days.

I never thought I would get that much peer pressure…

Agitate

Unset
“Why aren’t you drinking?”

“Are you sick?”

“You need to relax, let’s have fun!”

“Why are you so boring?!”

Even though alcohol is a known drug when you don’t drink you’re
categorized as “non-fun” and “un-cool”.

Page 25
Solution

Unset
It made me feel bad at first but then I realized 2 things:

1- History has proven that society does not prioritize your

health (think how doctors were prescribing cigarettes only a few
decades ago 🤦‍♂️)

2- You’re the only one who has to live with the consequences of
your actions - act accordingly

Remember:

Easy choices, hard life.

Hard choices, easy life.

P.S: I’m not trying to launch a debate around alcohol, I’m just
sharing some personal feelings 😇

Here’s the truth

When I started
[lemlist](<[Link] in 2018, I
had 0 ambition, and I felt ashamed about it…

My only goal at the time was to get an OK salary so my girlfriend

would stop paying the rent on her own…

I didn’t want to change the world

I didn’t have BIG dreams to impact the lives of millions

I simply wanted to help enough people so I could build a business

where I get paid

Page 28
But when I was looking at all the other “visionary” founders - it
made me doubt myself…

I thought that I didn’t have what it takes…

Tipping point

Unset
But as time went by, I started to build more and more confidence
in what I was building

And once I reached 100 customers, I felt like reaching 1000

customers would be doable.

And then I reached 1000 customers, so I thought that I could

reach 10,000 customers

And then I reached 10,000 customers and felt like we could reach
100,000 customers…

Page 29
After

Unset
My ambition kept getting bigger as my confidence grew.

Sometimes all you have to do is put your head down and do the
work

If you can outwork your self-doubts, ambition will come along

And if there’s one thing I’m certain of...

It’s that you don’t need to be ambitious to succeed

That can come a lot later
