REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) MODULE > REMOVAL
1. Remove the HCU . Refer to Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) .
2. NOTE: Make sure the HCU and ABS module are clean and free
of any brake fluid or foreign material before separating the
components. Do not allow any brake fluid or foreign material to enter
the mating side of the ABS module or damage to the solenoids can
occur.
Remove the 4 ABS module screws and the ABS module.

INSTALLATION
1. NOTE: Visually inspect the ABS module terminals for damage
before installation.
Install the ABS module and the 4 ABS module screws.
1. Tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
2. Install the HCU . Refer to Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) .

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION > HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT (HCU) > REMOVAL
WARNING: Do not use any fluid other than clean brake fluid
meeting manufacturer's specification. Additionally, do not use brake fluid
that has been previously drained. Following these instructions will help
prevent system contamination, brake component damage and the risk
of serious personal injury.

NOTE: Do not spill brake fluid on painted or plastic surfaces or
damage to the surface may occur. If brake fluid is spilled onto a painted
or plastic surface, immediately wash the surface with water.
1. If installing a new ABS module, upload the ABS module configuration to the scan tool. REFER to MODULE
CONFIGURATION
2. Remove the ACL . REFER to INTAKE AIR SYSTEM COMPONENTS - EXPLODED VIEW
3. Remove the battery and battery tray. REFER to BATTERY AND BATTERY TRAY - EXPLODED VIEW
4. Disconnect the brake tubes from the HCU .
1. To install, tighten the master cylinder primary and secondary brake tube fittings to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft).
2. Tighten the remaining brake tube fittings to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).
5. Disconnect the ABS module electrical connector.
6. Remove the HCU bracket bolt.
1. To install, tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).
7. Remove the HCU and ABS module as an assembly.

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
2. If a new ABS module was installed, download the ABS module configuration from the scan tool to the new
ABS module. REFER to MODULE CONFIGURATION
3. If a new HCU was installed, carryout the IVD initialization using the scan tool and follow the scan tool on-screen
instructions.
4. Bleed the brake system. REFER to BRAKE SYSTEM BLEEDING
