✨ That words has connection to our lesson

today.

✨ The discussion begin ✨ The students will now listen to the

discussion

✨ The Affective Filter Hypothesis is a key

concept in language acquisition theory,
particularly in the field of Second Language
Acquisition (SLA). It was proposed by Stephen
4|Page
Krashen in the 1980s and suggests that
emotional factors play a crucial role in language
Learning

✨ Anyone from the class, who wants to read? ✨ Student’s will raise their hand

✨ Yes, ( the student will be address using ✨ The chosen student will now read the said
his/her last name) part

When the Affective Filter is High:

- Anxiety, stress, low motivation,

and lack of self-confidence can
raise the affective filter,

blocking or hindering language

input from reaching the LAD. This
means the learner is less likely to
process and learn from the input
effectively.

✨ Thank you!

When the Affective Filter is Low:

✨ The students will listen to the discussion
- A relaxed, comfortable, and
positive learning environment
lowers the affective filter, allowing
input to flow freely to the LAD.
This facilitates language
acquisition and makes learning
more efficient.

Some Factors Influencing the Affective Filter:

- Motivation: Learners who are highly motivated

and enthusiastic about learning are more likely
to have a lower filter.

- Self-confidence: Confidence in one’s ability to ✨ The students will listen to the discussion
learn the language is essential for lowering the
filter.
- Anxiety: High levels of anxiety, especially
about speaking or making mistakes, can
significantly raise the filter.
- Learning environment: A positive, supportive,
and encouraging learning environment
promotes a lower filter
