INTRODUCTION

Artificial Intelligence (AI) was first introduced by John McCarthy in 1955

and is a computer that exhibits intelligent behavior like perception, reasoning,

learning, and communication. AI is divided into three paradigms: symbolic,

statistical, and subsymbolic. Its current uses include automotives, finance,

economics, medicine, education, and Google's search engine. AI's application

in medicine remains a hot area of interest for researchers, and it is continually

developed and refined.

In Dubai, United Arab Emirates, artificial intelligence (AI) is gaining

interest in medicine, with machines capable of making radiological diagnoses

with similar success rates as highly qualified consultants. IBM Watson, for

example, has transitioned from "Jeopardy!" to medical oncology. AI can also

be used in managing cancer and chronic illnesses, particularly in selecting

medication with the best response and side effect profiles(Kai Siang Chan

and Nabil Zary,PhD, 2019).

In the Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines, generation Alpha students

benefit from AI proficiency in mathematics education, preparing them for the

future workforce. However, challenges like ethical issues, infrastructure, and

resource limitations exist. Understanding AI's potential is crucial for adapting

instructional methods to the digital age( Peter John M. Melchor, Laila S.

Lomibao, Jennifer O. Parcutilo, 2023).

In Iligan City, Philippines, research study by Edgar R. Eslit (2023),

parallel to the upheaval caused by the pandemic are the dynamics of

globalization and significant breakthroughs in artificial intelligence. Artificial

intelligence (AI) has been transforming the educational landscape (Toh and

Floresca-Cawagas, 2018; Luengo-Oroz et al., 2021). Globalization has

increased awareness of cultural variety, linguistic interaction of, and

innovative educational methodologies (Toh and Floresca-Cawagas, 2018).

AI integration in education has brought both benefits and problems,

including new teaching methods, individualized learning, and data-driven

decision-making (Luengo-Oroz et al., 2021). Toh and Floresca-Cawagas

(2018) discuss how teachers must navigate the changing educational

landscape while maintaining the essence of literature and language

education.

There are plenty of research studies about navigating artificial

intelligence in the student's perspectives. However, local studies are not so

common. Therefore, this study will be conducted.

Specifically, this study will seek to answer the question:

 What are the lived experiences of a Housekeeping student in

using artificial intelligence?

Theoretical Framework

This research is based on social learning theory. Bandura (1977)

proposed that learning happens through observation, modeling, and imitation.

In the context of AI (artificial intelligence) in education, social learning theory

can be used to explain how high school students learn from and with AI and

how they model their behavior and attitudes toward technology based on the

behavior and attitudes of their peers, teachers, and other social influences.
METHODS

Research Design

This study uses qualitative design. According to Hoover (2021),

qualitative studies rely on personal accounts or documents that illustrate in

detail how people think or respond within society. Specifically, this study uses

phenomenology. Neubauer (2019) defined phenomenology as an approach to

research that seeks to describe the essence of a phenomenon by exploring it

from the perspective of those who have experienced it.

Participants

The participants of this qualitative research will be five females who

worked in male-dominated industries, whose age ranges from 22-35 years

old. Five of them will be chosen since Nielsen and Landauer (2000) built a

mathematical model that shows that by doing a qualitative test with 5

participants, you will identify 85% of the issues in an interface.

In addition, the participants of this study will be carefully chosen

through purposeful sampling. Purposeful sampling technique, according to

Alchemer (2021), also known as judgmental, selective, or subjective

sampling, is a form of non- probability sampling in which researchers rely on

their own judgment when choosing members of the population to participate in

their surveys.

Data Sources

In-depth interview is a loosely structured interview. It allows freedom

for both the interviewer and the interviewee to explore additional points and

change direction, if necessary (B2B International, 2023). Thus, the answers of

the participants who shared their experiences during the in-depth interview

will be the sources of data.

Data Gathering Procedure

To gather the needed data for the study, a letter of request will be sent

to the office of the school principal. Once approved, the participants will be

oriented about the central purpose of the study and assurance of the

confidentiality. They will also be informed about the nature of the study and

they will be asked to sign the consent as an agreement of their full

participation and cooperation in the study. After which, the necessary

materials and instruments for data gathering, such as the audio recorder and

the guide questions, will be prepared to record the information which will be

revealed by the participants. The conduct of the in-depth interview will follow

in which the answers of the participants will be recorded. In conducting the

interview, the researchers will adhere to the COVID-19 health and safety

guidelines to guarantee the security and safety of everyone involved in the

study. After recording, the files will be kept for transcription and analysis.

Data Analysis

The data will be collected through an in-depth interview. After the

interview, the responses will be classified in line with the experiences of the

participants. This is where coding of data will take place. According to

Medelyan (2015), coding is the process of labeling and organizing your

qualitative data to identify different themes and the relationships between

them. After which, thematic analysis will follow. According to Rosala (2022),

thematic analysis is a systematic method of breaking down and organizing

rich data from qualitative research by tagging individual observations and

quotations with appropriate codes, to facilitate the discovery of significant

themes.

Ethical Consideration

The research asserts that all procedures contributing to this work

comply with the ethical principles of conducting research. Accordingly, all

research subjects will take part voluntarily, and their rights, dignity, and

autonomy will be respected and appropriately safeguarded. In addition, the

researchers will ensure that they maximize the benefit of the research and

minimize the potential risk of harm to the participants and researchers.

Moreover, equal treatment among the participants will be ensured.
