PART ONE: READING FOR COMPREHENSION (08pts)

Read the text below and do all the activities that follow it.

Travelling plays a very important role in our lives. Nobody can live without travelling. But how do
we travel? There are several means. In the past, we travelled on foot or by canoe. Nowadays, we can travel
by car, by coach, by bus, by train, by boat or by plane. It all depends on the means we have and the
distance to cover. So every time you want to travel, you must first think of the distance. Then you think of
5 the means of transport you have. Once you have made your decision, you can finally start parking.
Travelling by plane is different from any other travelling. Firstly, you must have your identity
document, that is, the ID card. Secondly, you must have your passport. Third, you book a place by buying
your ticket. Before getting on the plane, the customs officers verify all illegal goods in passengers’
9 luggage. On the plane, the flight attendants serve drinks to passengers.
