Lieutenant, Platoon Commander Jan 2017 − Present
The British Army’s training facility for new recruits, producing a deploy-ready fighting force in 28 weeks.
• Lead a team of 5 to plan, resource and execute trainings for groups of up to 48 recruits. Design and
deliver military exercises. Coordinate with a range of military and civilian agencies.
• Achieved a recruit First Time Pass Rate of 46% (2009-2015 average was 20%), the highest in the last
25 training cycles, by identifying and implementing improvements to the training programme.
• Worked around severe budgetary and resource restrictions to enable training to continue. Convinced
senior management to support suggestions, which were subsequently rolled out.
• Due to promotion to Captain at the end of 2018, after only 24 months as Lieutenant, vs an average of 36
months.

BRISTISH ARMY, THE PARACHUTE REGIMENT UK & Middle East


Second Lieutenant, Platoon Commander Jan 2016 − Dec 2016
The Parachute Regiment is the British Army’s most selective and elite unit.
• Selected among 5 of 50+ Sandhurst applicants to join the Parachute Regiment. Ranked 2nd of 50 starters
on the arduous Pre-Parachute Selection course.
• Led a Platoon of 30 men on an operational tour in Afghanistan. Managed all aspects of the deployment,
including personal and professional development, welfare management and formal briefings. Planned
and led patrols in a kinetic operational theatre.
• Required to immediately exert personal impact and a leadership style in-keeping with an established
team, with an already in-place command structure.
• Briefed strategic level command as well as down to groups of 45 soldiers. Provided a communication
link between UK and indigenous forces.
• Employed a range of solutions to diverse and often complex issues faced daily on patrol.
• Promoted to Lieutenant after 12 months vs 24 months usually.

Sole Founder & Chair of Trustees February 2015 – Present
• Founded LearnED, a charity that brings together retired teachers and pupils from less advantaged
backgrounds for weekly, small group sessions to improve attainment and career opportunities.
• LearnED currently serves 300 pupils and has a turnover of >£150k. Attainment levels of participants have
doubled and more than 50% of income is generated from clients.
• Planned, developed and implemented all aspects of the programme. This involved persuading tutors, schools
and pupils to commit for 12 months.
• Raised >£120k (initially) to employ three members of staff and built a board of specialist trustees.
• Regularly present the story of LearnED, including several TED Talks across Europe and North America.
• Developed a plan of expansion, allowing the organisation to support >2,400 pupils across the country by
2022.
• Awarded Fellowship of UnLtd in recognition of ‘the implementation of an outstanding idea’.
