The crow was flying for a long time so he
was very thirsty. It was a very difficult
situation because the crow was not able to
find any water but after searching for
water for a long time the crow reached the
village.
In the village, the crow saw a pitcher and he
couldn't believe his eyes as he saw some water
in the pitcher. The crow was very happy and was
not able to think of anything else. The crow put
his head inside the pitcher but the poor crow
was not able to reach the water.
Now the problem was that the pitcher was high
and had a narrow neck and no matter how much
he tried he was not able to reach the water
level. The crow became very sad and
disappointed but you know what, the crow was
very clever.
So the crow thought a lot and started searching
for ideas because he was in a deadly situation
but the good thing about the crow was that he
was very clever and did not give up when he
faced a different situation. This attitude of the
crow helped him and he got an amazing idea.
The crow saw some pebbles lying on the floor. He
thought that if he threw the pebbles in the pot then
the water in the pot would rise up and then he would
be able to drink the water and fly back to the forest.
This idea gave him hope and he started searching for
pebbles, flew towards the pebbles, and put one in his
beak then he flew back to the pot and dropped the
pebble in the pot. The crow did this again.
He put a Pebble in his mouth and came back to the
pitcher and dropped the Pebble in the pitcher. After
some time the crow tried to drink the water but he
still couldn't reach the water level.
Now the crow had become more thirsty and tired but
still, he did not give up and after repeating this
process for a long time the water level rose so much
that the crow was able to drink the water.
The crow then put his beak in the pitcher and started
drinking the water very fast and with every sip of
water he felt more alive. After drinking enough water
the crow flew back happily to his forest.

VISUAL AND
MULTIMEDIA
ELEMENTS
Visual and multimedia elements are used to
catch the readers’ attention. They also aid
readers in understanding the text.
Visual Media
refers to photos, paintings, videos, graphic organizers,
symbols and figures that we commonly see around us. It is
often used as a learning aid such as in presentations and
discussions.
Visual elements are included in the text to help the
readers see what they are reading.
These five main visual elements
are lines, colors, symbols, gaze and framing.
Line is the most basic visual element. It is the
foundation of all drawings
and can be used to create shapes, forms and textures.
It has five main
types namely: vertical, horizontal, diagonal, zigzag and
curved.
Vertical lines are straight up and down lines.
They suggest height and strength because
they
are directed towards the sky and they seem
unshaken.
Look at the photo of a
building. It has a lot of
vertical lines and you
can sense strength and
height.
Horizontal lines are straight lines that
move from left to right or right to left.
They
suggest width, distance, calmness, or
stability.
Do you see the
horizontal line
that divides
the sea and
the sky in the
picture?
Diagonal lines are straight lines
that
slant in any direction. These lines
suggest movement and lack of
stability.
Zigzag lines are series of diagonal lines
joined at ends. Looking at them give you
feeling of excitement, restlessness or
sometimes anxiety.
Curved lines are lines that bend and
change directions gradually. They can be
wavy or spiral that suggest comfort and
ease.
Color is the visual element that has the
strongest effect on our emotions.
We use color to create the mood or atmosphere
of an artwork.
Red – describes as color of love, passion, adventure,
fire, blood,
warmth, anger, violence and warfare.
Black and White are neutrals. Black represents power,
elegance and formality while white is associated to
purity and
cleanliness.
Symbols are representations of
concepts or ideas. It takes the form of
words, sounds, gestures, ideas, or
visual images and are used to convey
other ideas and beliefs.
Look at the picture logo.
Without even saying or
writing
the name of it, you are
familiar with this picture. It is
Jollibee,
the largest fast-food chain
brand in the Philippines.
Gaze refers to where the figure in the image is
looking. It implies looking at someone through
our
formed set of beliefs and values.
Framing deals with the proper placement of the
subject with other images. This is a feature of
visual
elements to highlight the subject inside a particular
frame.
Look at the picture,
you see that the
surroundings
used as a frame.
Multimedia is a combination two words: multi and
media. Multi came
from Latin word “multus” which means much or
many while media means
something is communicated or expressed.
five main elements of multimedia.
Text is the basic element of multimedia. It
involves the use of text types, sizes, colors, and
background color. It shows the information that
a
developer is trying to get across to their viewers.
These texts can be found from various sources
like books, letters, newspapers, and other graphics
that use alphabets,
numbers, and special characters to present
information.
Audio is a multimedia application requires the use
of
speech, music, and sound effects
There are
two basic types of audio or sound:
analog and digital
audio.
Analog audio involves using a microphone to turn
sound into
electrical analog signals and imprinting them
directly on tapes and
cassettes through its spiral grooves.
digital audio is a representation of
sound recorded or converted into digital form like
those found in
computer or mp3 player and easily copied onto
compact disks, hard
drives, or uploaded online for widespread playback.
Graphics commonly called as images, pictures or
photographs, make the multimedia application
attractive. They help illustrate ideas through still
pictures.
There are two types of graphics used: bitmap
(paint graphics) and
vector (draw graphics).
Bitmap is basically an image file format used to
save or store digital images. Vector is based on
sketching and drawing
different elements like lines and rectangles to create
an appropriate
image.
Animation is a process of making a static image
look like it is moving. It is the most creative and fun
multimedia element.
Digital animation can be categorized into two
broad areas: 2D (2-
Dimension) and 3D (3-Dimension) animations.
Video is a recording of moving visual images made
digitally or on videotape. It is a powerful feature in
a multimedia program. Video starts with
continuous event and breaks it up to frames.
