Topic 4: Global Warming

Thư: Hey, Trí! Have you been following the news about global warming? Do you care about
this?

Trí: Yes, Thư, I definitely care. It’s one of the biggest issues of our time. It affects everything -
our climate, our environment, and even future generations. How about you?

Thư: I agree. I really worried when I see reports about wildfires, flooding, and heatwaves. It
feels like it’s only getting worse.

Trí: It’s true. The problem is massive, but who do you think is mainly responsible for global
warming?

Thư: I think big companies and industries are the main contributors. They burn fossil fuels, like
coal and oil, and release a lot of harmful gases into the atmosphere. Governments also need to
take more action, but people need to be more aware too.

Trí: Yeah, industries and governments have the biggest impact. But we also play a part in it,
with things like driving cars and wasting energy.

Thư: Exactly! But out of all the effects of global warming, which one do you think is the most
serious?

Trí: For me, it’s rising sea levels. As the ice caps melt, many coastal cities and islands are at risk
of flooding. It could displace millions of people and cause huge problems worldwide.

Thư: I agree. But I also think extreme weather, like stronger hurricanes and heatwaves, is really
dangerous. It not only damages homes but also affects agriculture and health. These events are
becoming more frequent and severe.

Trí: That’s true. Extreme weather can cause long-term damage, and it’s only going to get worse.
So, what do you think we should do to reduce the risks caused by global warming?

Thư: I think governments should invest more in renewable energy sources, like solar and wind.
They should also create stronger laws to limit pollution from factories. We also need to protect
forests since they help absorb carbon dioxide.

Trí: I agree. Additionally, we could improve public transportation to reduce emissions from cars.
People can also recycle more, use less plastic, and save energy in their daily lives.

Thư: Absolutely. It’s going to take action from everyone governments, businesses, and
individuals. If we all do our part, we can make a difference.

Trí: Exactly. If we act now, we can slow down global warming and protect our planet for future
generations.
