INTRODUCTION
As stated by Schreyer et al. Al. (2017) assert that automation manages
a crucial duty in both daily life and the global economy. Computer
technology is used to carry out office tasks. Automation helps a lot in the
government as well, reducing tasks and improving society. The Senior
Citizen Profiling System is a system that administers the registration to
make job easier and less hassle for the golden age. Senior citizens or
seniors are terms used to describe people who are above sixty. These
terms refer to people whose stage in life is generally called old age,
though there is no precise way to identify the final stage of a normal life
span. People are said to be senior citizens when they reach the age of sixty
because those are the ages at which most people retire from the
workforce. The records of members of Senior Citizen had been curtail
overtime due to large numbers of citizen’s due to poor record keeping
since itis a manual based method. The manual method led to various
problems and these include unnecessary duplication of recorded data,
difficult in tracing previous member's record, eventually, it is difficult to
trace the flow of members past data. Based on the survey the appearance
of computer web-based profiling system has changed the office
transaction both large and small system have adopted the new method by
use of computer, to attain several roles in the production of information.
Objectives
Generally, the project aimed to develop an online system that will help
government office in locating and profiling of senior citizens.
Specific Objectives:
1. Create a module that automates the following:
a. Registration
b. Reports.
2. Create a module that shows the demographic profile of senior citizens
of Barangay Balansay, Mamburao, Occidental Mindoro.
3. Create a module that will search or shows the master list of all senior
citizens.
Definition of Terms •
In the context of the Senior Citizen Profiling System for Barangay Balansay,
the following terms are defined specifically to cater to the needs and
functionalities of the system, particularly for IT professionals involved in
its development and maintenance.
Database Management System (DBMS): Software that interacts with
end-users, applications, and the database itself to capture and analyze
data. It is crucial for storing senior citizen profiles securely.
Admin Dashboard: The main interface for administrators, providing
tools and information for managing the system, viewing reports, and
accessing system functionalities.
Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): A structured process
followed for developing software applications, encompassing stages such
as planning, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance.
Rapid Application Development (RAD): An incremental software
development process that emphasizes an extremely short development
cycle, allowing for quick adjustments based on user feedback.
Functional Requirements: Specifications that describe what the system
should do; these include features like registration processes and report
generation capabilities.
Master List: A comprehensive database containing all registered senior
citizens within Barangay Balansay, which can be searched or referenced
for various administrative purposes.
Data Migration: The process of transferring data from one system or format
to another; in this context, it may involve moving records from manual
logs to the new web-based system.
These definitions are tailored specifically for those involved in the
development and operation of the Senior Citizen Profiling System in
Barangay Balansay and reflect terminology familiar within IT circles.
SYSTEM INTEGRATION METHODOLOGIES
Data Gathering: The data gathering process for the Senior Citizen
Profiling System in Barangay Balansay involves collecting essential
information to create a comprehensive database of senior citizens. The
specific data collected includes personal details such as names, ages,
addresses, contact numbers, and health information. This information is
primarily provided by the senior citizens themselves during the
registration process, which is facilitated by barangay officials and staff.
Additionally, data on pension status, social security benefits, and
participation in community programs are gathered through surveys and
interviews conducted by local government personnel. The collection
process also includes verification steps to ensure the accuracy and
completeness of the data entered into the system. By engaging both senior
citizens and barangay staff in this process, the system aims to create an
efficient and reliable profiling mechanism that enhances service delivery
and meets the needs of the elderly population in the community.
System Integration
The development of the Senior Citizen Profiling System for Barangay
Balansay followed a structured process aimed at creating a user-friendly
and efficient web-based application. The development utilized the
Waterfall Model of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC),
which includes distinct phases such as requirements analysis, system
design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. Initially, the
researchers conducted a thorough requirements analysis by engaging with
senior citizens and barangay officials to gather essential data and
understand their needs. This information informed the design phase,
where the system architecture was outlined, focusing on functionalities
such as registration, identification card generation, and pension
monitoring.
The programming languages and frameworks employed in the
development included PHP for server-side scripting, HTML for
structuring the web pages, and Bootstrap for responsive design. The
application was hosted on an XAMPP server, enabling local development
and testing before deployment. The graphical user interface (GUI) was
designed to be intuitive, featuring an admin dashboard that displays key
metrics about senior citizens registered in the system.
For testing procedures, both software-to-software and software-to-
hardware tests were conducted to ensure functionality and performance.
Open-source testing tools like Mochawe re utilized for JavaScript testing
to verify that all components worked as intended without errors. The
testing phase included unit tests for individual modules and integration
tests to ensure that different parts of the application interacted correctly.
Reports generated from these tests indicated successful functionality
across all modules, confirming that the system met user requirements
effectively.
