➢ Circuit Of the Automatic Street Light

➢ Advantages & Disadvantages

➢ Application

➢ Conclusion

Introduction :
Automatic street lights are a lighting system that uses sensors to turn on and off
lights based on the surrounding light levels.
They can be used to improve safety and reduce the wastage of Power.

How it Works:
It automatically switches ON lights when the sunlight goes below the visible region
of our eyes. (In evening after sunset)

This is done by a sensor called Light Dependent Resistor (LDR) which senses the
light actually like our eyes. It automatically switches OFF lights whenever the
sunlight comes, visible to our eyes.
Main Components:

Transistor BC547 :

➢ BC547 transistor is a bipolar junction transistor (BJT)

that works as an electrically controlled switch or
amplifier.
➢ This transistor has Three terminals: Base, Emitter,
and Collector.
➢ It works in two modes: forward bias and reverse bias:
Forward bias :
Current flows from the collector to the emitter when
the collector and emitter are connected.
Reverse bias :
The base terminal is connected to ground (0V), which
acts as a disconnect switch and prevents current
from passing.

LDR (Light Dependence Resistor)

➢ An Electronic Component whose resistance decreases

with increasing incident light intensity

➢ Used in a potential divider setup with a second

regular resistor

Resistor

➢ Resistor is used to resistance the flow of current.

When resistor is placed in a circuit, the current
flow decreases when current passes through the
resistor.
Battery

➢ A battery is a device that is able to store electric

energy in it.

PCB (Printed Circuit Board):

➢ PCBs are the circuit boards that are

used in most electronic devices. They
are used to connect electronic
components and provide mechanical
support to the device.

Circuit Of Automatic Street Light

Advantages:
➢ Energy Saving

➢ Low Cost

➢ Safety and Security

➢ Automated Operation

Disadvantages:
➢ It Has Limitation Of Power

➢ Light Turns on when shadow falls on LDR

➢ LED is low voltage Device

Application:

➢ Used in street Light applications

➢ Used in Domestic Application

Conclusion:

➢ In coming days, this will prove a great boon to the country, since it will
save lot of electricity of power plant that gets wasted in illuminating
the street lights.
➢ As a conclusion, around 77% - 81% of Power consumption can be
reduced
➢ By using this system towards providing a solution for energy saving.
