SUMMARY

Air pollution poses a serious environmental and health risks,

contributing to respiratory diseases particularly asthma, bronchitis,
and lung infections. Traditional air purifiers focus on indoor air,
leaving outdoor pollutants unfiltered before entering homes.
Additionally, most systems rely on electricity, increasing energy
consumption and carbon footprints. To address these issues, this
study proposes AiroClean, an AI-powered, solar-powered outdoor
(rooftop) and indoor air purifier that captures pollutants before they
enter indoor spaces. AiroClean integrates advanced filtration
technology and AI sensors to monitor and remove airborne pollutants
while adjusting filtration intensity based on real-time conditions.
Solar energy being it’s source of power, it offers a sustainable,
energy-efficient alternative to conventional air purifiers. This study
evaluates AiroClean’s effectiveness in reducing pollutants, minimizing
energy consumption, and outperforming traditional purifiers.
Through prototype testing and experimental analysis, the research
assesses its impact on indoor air quality and energy efficiency. By
combining new technologies such as AI, renewable energy, and air
purification, AiroClean shows an innovative, eco-friendly solution to
household air pollution.

1
BACKGROUND AND PROBLEM

Air pollution is a growing environmental and health concern

worldwide. Harmful airborne pollutants such as dust, smoke, and
debris contribute to respiratory diseases, including asthma,
bronchitis, and lung infections. Traditional air purification systems
are primarily designed for indoor use, leaving outdoor pollutants
unfiltered before they enter living spaces. Additionally, many air
purifiers rely on electricity, leading to high energy consumption and
increased carbon footprints. To address these challenges, there is a
need for an innovative, energy-efficient, and autonomous air
purification system that can function outdoors while improving
indoor air quality.

This study proposes the development of AiroClean, an AI solar-

powered rooftop air purifier designed to capture pollutants before
they enter the home. The system will use advanced filtration
technology to remove airborne debris, smoke, and harmful particles,
ensuring cleaner air circulation inside the house. Integrated AI
sensors will monitor pollution levels in real time, adjusting filtration
intensity based on environmental conditions. To ensure sustainability,
AiroClean will be powered by solar panels, reducing dependence on
conventional electricity and making it an eco-friendly solution.

The research aims to evaluate the efficiency of the AI-powered

rooftop purifier in improving air quality and reducing respiratory
risks. It will also examine its energy consumption and adaptability to
different environmental conditions. By combining artificial
intelligence, air purification, and renewable energy, AiroClean
presents a smart, sustainable approach to mitigating air pollution at
the household level. Through experimental research and prototype
testing, this study will provide insights into the effectiveness and
feasibility of integrating autonomous air purification technology into
home infrastructure.

PROPOSED SOLUTION TO PROBLEM

Traditional air purifiers are designed primarily for indoor use,

leaving homes vulnerable to outdoor pollutants such as dust, smoke,
and harmful airborne particles. To address this limitation, this study
proposes AiroClean, an AI-powered, solar-powered rooftop air purifier
that captures pollutants before they enter indoor spaces. By
positioning the purifier on the roof, it serves as the first line of
defense against airborne contaminants, ensuring that the air entering
the home is clean and safe to breathe. This proactive approach
significantly reduces exposure to pollutants that contribute to
respiratory diseases such as asthma and bronchitis.

AeroClean will be equipped with smart sensors that

continuously monitor air quality, including levels of PM2.5, CO₂, and
volatile organic compounds (VOCs). These sensors will feed real-time
data to an AI-driven filtration system, which will analyze pollution
levels and automatically adjust its purification process for optimal
performance. The AI algorithm will enable the system to adapt to
changing environmental conditions, ensuring efficient filtration of
harmful particles and gases. This automation minimizes the need for
manual adjustments, making the system user-friendly and highly
effective in different air quality conditions.

To ensure sustainability, AiroClean will utilize solar energy as

its primary power source, eliminating the need for traditional
electricity consumption. The integration of photovoltaic solar panels
and rechargeable batteries will allow the purifier to operate
continuously, even during the night or in low-sunlight conditions. By
reducing dependence on electrical power, AiroClean presents an eco-
friendly alternative to conventional air purifiers, lowering energy costs
and reducing the household’s carbon footprint.

Through its AI-driven filtration, real-time air quality monitoring, and

solar-powered operation, AiroClean offers an innovative and
sustainable solution to combat air pollution at the household level,
promoting cleaner air and better respiratory health.

BENEFICIARIES

1. Homeowners and Residents: Individuals living in urban areas or

regions heavily affected by air pollution will benefit from improved
indoor air quality, leading to better health outcomes and reduced
respiratory issues for themselves and their families.

2. Community: Communities affected by air pollution will benefit

from reduced contaminants in the air, fostering a healthier
environment and potentially decreasing healthcare costs associated
