QR CODE READER/SCANNER

Another commonly used type of barcode is the QUICK RESPONSE (QR) CODE. This is
made up of a matrix of filled in dark squares on a light background.
To make a comparison, normal barcodes can hold up to 30 digits; QR codes can hold over
7000 digits. This obviously gives greater scope for the storage of information.
USES
As modern smartphones allow internet access on the move, QR codes can be scanned anywhere.
• This allows advertising of products on trains, buses, shopping malls and many other places.
• Using the built-in camera facility on modern phones, and by downloading the appropriate
application (or App), it is possible to read the QR code. The code may contain a website
link or some form of advertising.
• Wi-Fi aunthentication which can be used to store Wi-Fi networks
• It have been used to establish virtual online store.
ADVANTAGES

• There is no need for the user to actually write down or key in a website address; this is
done automatically by scanning the QR code.
• QR codes can store website address that appear in magazines, trains, buses or even business
cards, providing a very effective method of advertising.
• It can hold much more information than normal bar code.
• QR code are easier to read.
• It is easier to transmit QR code either as text or images.

DIS ADVANTAGES

• More than one QR format is available.


• QR code can be used to transmit malicious code known as attagging
