Exercise 1: Direct to Reported Speech (Statements)

Change the following direct speech into reported speech.

1. "I went to the cinema yesterday," she said.


2. "My favorite subject is English," he said.
3. "We are going on holiday next week," they said.
4. "I have lost my keys," he said.
5. "She is a very talented singer," he said.

Exercise 2: Direct to Reported Speech (Questions)

Change the following direct questions into reported questions.

1. "Where do you live?" she asked me.


2. "Have you ever been to Paris?" he asked.
3. "What time is it?" they asked.
4. "Are you coming to the party?" she asked.
5. "Why are you so late?" he asked.

Exercise 3: Direct to Reported Speech (Commands/Requests)

Change the following direct commands/requests into reported speech.

1. "Close the door," the teacher said.
