Odin the Mini Octopus

Abbreviations: Difficulty:
MR = magic ring Beginner
SC = single crochet
INC = increase
DEC = decrease (invisible) Skills Required:
SL ST = slip stitch
Crocheting in a spiral, magic ring, single
ST = stitch crochet, bobble stitch, increasing, decreasing,
CH = chain and chaining.
BOB = bobble stitch
BLO = back loop only
FO = fasten off

Supplies:
+ Chunky Chenille Yarn
(I used Toucan by Hobbii yarns in Pink.)
+ 12mm safety eyes
+ 4.5mm crochet hook
+ Scissors
+ Darning needle
+ Stitch marker
* Polyester fiberfill for stuffing

HOW TO make a bobble stitch:


Yarn over, insert hook into stitch, yarn over, draw loop back through stitch,
yarn over pull through 2 loops. Repeat 4 more times until you have 6 loops
on your hook. Yarn over and draw through all 6 loops to complete the bobble.

1: SC 8 in a MR (8)
2: INC in each ST around (16)
3: (SC, INC) x 8 (24)
4: SC in each ST around (24)
5: (2 SC, INC) x 8 (32)
6-10: SC in each ST around - 5 rounds (32)
11: DEC x 16 (16)

Attach eyes between rounds 8-9 with


approximately 4 stitches showing between.
Begin stuffing the head and continue to stuff until closed.

12: BLO (2 SC, DEC) x 4 (12)


13: DEC x 6 (6)

FO and close hole.

Tentacles
1: Pull up a stitch from the front loop of round 12. (Photo 1) CH 1, *BOB
in same ST (Photo 2), SL ST in next 2 STs. (Photo3) *Repeat until you have 8
BOBs. FO and weave in the ends. (Photo 4)

Tip:
If your tentacles
seem to be too
small, go up one
size in your
crochet hook.

use 10mm eyes,
medium weight chenille
or velvet yarn, and a
