THE SIGNIFICANCE OF EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION AMONG ENGINEERING
STUDENTS
Being able to communicate with one another has been one of the most crucial aspects of
how the world is functioning today. Not only does communication allow decision-making,
sharing of ideas, information transmission, and understanding, but it also serves as a catalyst for
information transfer, which opens the door for any human interaction. One amazing aspect
regarding communication is that it predates the official introduction of humans; in fact, people
aren't the only creature that interacts with one another. For instance, we have animals like birds
that chirp and whistle to indicate an impending danger and a roar from a lion to manifest its
dominance, which goes to show that humans aren’t the only ones that have the ability to
communicate. But the question is, why do we even communicate with one another? And why has
it created a big impact on what the world is today? To start, communicating with one another is
an active process that entails the sharing and development of ideas to accomplish a specific goal.
This objective enables people, especially engineers, to use what they have learned to contribute
using their knowledge to finish a project or to effectively share information that other people
may find important.
Early in their academic careers, students are exposed to social gathering activities like
group work and other research-related ideas, where a group of students is created to address
certain issues and other areas that call for solutions. Typically, the group that performed the best
is considered to be the best based on the results of the students' production. Why? Because they
exhibit a form of effective communication among fellow students, which is called teamwork.
Teamwork as a definition, is the collaboration among people, from sharing of ideas, knowledge,
and efforts, and is the result of effective communication among oneself. As engineering students,
teamwork is the heart and soul of engineering. To create and finish projects, one must require
teamwork, to be globally competent and be good at the job requires teamwork. In today’s world,
there are engineering courses, one of which has its particular responsibility. Constructing an
infrastructure requires engineers of each specialty; each one handles the electricity, plumbing,
design, ventilation, and construction. And those aforementioned engineers must be able to
communicate with each other to avoid any misplacement and problems that may arise.
To sum up, even as students, understanding the value of communication can benefit not
only our future but also how we interact with one another in our daily lives. It also makes it
simpler for people to understand one another, which makes their lives easier. Finally, it allows
people to let their voices be heard.
