TASK INTERLEAVING
• Deadheading is when a forklift operator moves without transporting goods.
Deadheading, or “running empty” is one of the greatest forms of waste in both
warehousing and transportation.
• In warehousing, task interleaving is intended to reduce deadheading by assigning
‘backhauls.’
