LATHE MACHINE OPERATION
STEPS :
1)Choose the material (metal or plastic) to be machined.
2)Secure the workpiece in the lathe chuck to ensure it is stable during machining.
3)Select an appropriate cutting tool based on the material and desired finish (HSS or carbide).
4)Attach the cutting tool to the tool holder and position it in the tool post at the correct height.
5)Set the spindle speed (RPM) and feed rate according to the material and the operation being
performed.
6)Turn on the lathe and ensure it is functioning properly before proceeding.
7)Begin with rough cuts to remove excess material quickly and shape the workpiece.
8)After roughing, switch to finer settings for finishing cuts to achieve the desired surface finish and
precision.
9)Use calipers or micrometers to measure the workpiece dimensions and check for accuracy.
10)Turn off the machine and carefully remove the finished workpiece from the chuck.
IN PASSIVE VOICE :
1)The material (metal or plastic) to be machined is chosen.
2)The workpiece is secured in the lathe chuck to ensure stability during machining.
3)An appropriate cutting tool is selected based on the material and desired finish (HSS or carbide).
4)The cutting tool is attached to the tool holder and positioned in the tool post at the correct height.
5)The spindle speed (RPM) and feed rate are set according to the material and the operation being
performed.
6)The lathe is turned on,and its functioning is ensured before proceeding.
7)Rough cuts are begun to quickly remove excess material and shape the workpiece.
8)After roughing, finer settings are switched for finishing cuts to achieve the desired surface finish
and precision.
9)Calipers or micrometers are used to measure the workpiece dimensions and check for accuracy.
10)The machine is turned off,and the finished workpiece is carefully removed from the chuck.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS :
1)Before operating the lathe, make sure you understand all controls, including the emergency stop
button and feed settings.
2)Always make sure the workpiece is tightly fastened in the chuck to prevent it from moving while
you’re machining.
3)Make sure to keep classmates and bystanders at a safe distance when the lathe is running to avoid
accidents.
4)Never operate the lathe if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol,as it can impair your
judgment.
5)Regularly check the lathe for maintenance needs and make sure all parts are working properly and
lubricated.
