PROJECT I NITIATION

The initiation of the project is done by the announcement of the project by the sponsor of the project. The project sponsor is one of the member of the steering committee. .In the announcement information about the project as project name, customer name, purpose of the project , project sponsor, project manager/team leader , quality assurance person, project deadlines are published Project manager and the quality assurance person is assigned by this announcement to the project. After this assignment the project manager is responsible from the project until the closure of the project.

Project Planning phase comprises planning of 9 main information area. Estimate the Scope of the Project Estimate Work Product & Task Attributes Define Project Lifecycle Estimate Effort & Cost Identify Project Risks Plan for Data Management Plan for Project Resources Plan for Needed Knowledge and Skills Plan Stakeholder Involvement Plan communication of team Plan Integrated Project Management Plan Quality Assurance Activities Project planning is a contiunous process all of the phases of the project, project planning is repated by the feedback from project monitor and control process area.

PROJECT CLOS URE

The Completion phase commences after deliverables are formally accepted. The project must be completed in an orderly manner so that: y y y y y Members of the project team are transferred to new assignments The project assets (staff and physical environment) are returned to their original owners All contractual matters are cleared; records are recycled or archived Lessons learned (and supporting metrics) are collected and added to the organizations knowledge sources Responsibility for the relationship with the client is transferred to another part of the organization.

Why Complete a Project Formally? A well-planned and orderly project completion ensures that all project expectations are met. The project outcome must satisfy the expectations of the client, staff, and management. The client should feel that the project has satisfied business and professional needs. The successful completion of a project has a positive impact on future business opportunities. It facilitates planning for and maintaining the long-term relationship with the client. The project staff members should feel that they made a significant contribution, that they were adequately recognized and rewarded for their contribution, that they enhanced their ability to satisfy their career goals, and that their next assignment is also in line with their career goals. Senior management must be satisfied that the client received quality service and that the project provided a financial eturn that supports the investment.
