INTRODUCTION

by: Shermmel delos Reyes

I. BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES

It is essential for us to have an effective communication. Whether it’s in your

work, home, school, talking to your friends, or even the online world. That is why
we have 7C’s, to avoid communication breakdown. It came from the book called
“Effective Public Relations”, wrote by Allen H. Center, Glen M. Broom, and Scott
Cutlip. 7C’s tells us tips on how we can achieve the effective communication we
need.

On August 21, 2024, we performed a discussion inside the class that tackles
about the 7C’s of communication. At its core, the presentation’s primary functions
are to educate students what 7C’s, as well as how it is used, and some examples of
scenarios that shows the said topic.

II. RECOMMENDATION AND ACKNOWLEGEMENT

Given this was our very first group discussion, despite being successful, our
group had a minor problem that caused troubles in which we hope to avoid in our
next presentations. It was the lack of communication between our members that
caused us inconvenience in terms of practicing and not being in the same page.

We would like to express our warmest appreciation to each one of our

classmates, as well as to our subject teacher, for being engaged and actively
listening in our discussion. Also, we are thankful as we are proud of our members
for pulling through and enlightening our fellow students on the topic of our first
discussion.

DEFINITION

by: Jhoi Atasha Valentin and Jayrous Gomez

When we communicate, it’s not just about speaking or writing words—it’s about
making real connections with the people around us. The 7C's of communication are
like a helpful guide, reminding us how to share our thoughts in a way that truly
resonates with others. Let’s break down each of these principles in a way that feels
more personal and relatable:

1. Conciseness: Being concise is like having a conversation where you get to

the point without beating around the bush. It’s about sharing what’s
important in a clear, straightforward way, showing that you respect the
other person’s time and attention.

2. Courtesy: Courtesy is about being kind and considerate in how you

communicate. Whether you’re talking face-to-face or sending a text, it’s
important to treat the other person with respect. A little politeness can make
your message more impactful and leave the other person feeling valued.

3. Completeness: When your message is complete, it’s like giving someone a

full set of instructions instead of just bits and pieces. You make sure they
have all the information they need so they’re not left guessing or confused.

4. Consideration: Consideration is about putting yourself in the other person’s

shoes. It’s thinking about what they need, how they might feel, and how best
to communicate with them. When you show consideration, you build
empathy and understanding in your conversations.

5. Correctness: Being correct in your communication is like double-checking a

recipe before cooking—it’s about making sure you’ve got the right
information and that your message is free from errors. These builds trust
because people know they can rely on what you say.

6. Concreteness: Concreteness is like painting a picture with your words.

Instead of being vague, you use clear, specific details that the other person

can easily understand. This helps ensure that your message isn’t
misunderstood and that your point really hits home.

7. Clearness: Clearness is all about making sure your message is easy to

grasp. It’s avoiding complicated language or jargon so that everyone, no
matter their background, can understand what you’re saying. It’s like
turning on the lights in a dark room—everything becomes clearer.

By embracing these 7 C's, we don’t just communicate—we connect. We make sure

our messages are clear, respectful, and effective, communicators can avoid
potential barriers and ensure their message is effectively delivered and understood.

EXAMPLES

by: Marjorie Rodas, Joanna Fabon and Shermmel delos Reyes

We performed an example scenario each tip of 7C’s, consisting of:

1. Completeness: A patient called asking for a doctor's appointment for the

next day at 10 in the morning. She informed her that she needed a token
but didn't explain that tokens were distributed starting at 8:30 a.m. The
next morning, she arrived at the clinic exactly at 10 a.m. and asked for a
token, only to be told she should have come earlier. Annoyed, she left the
clinic feeling upset that she hadn't explained the full process during the call.
2. Conciseness: A candidate gave a speech about working together to make
things better. Someone found it confusing, yet a friend explained that the
candidate just wants people to help make changes.
3. Consideration: A person invited her friend to try the lechon, but her friend
declined, saying that she was vegetarian. She apologized to her friend for not
knowing, and her friend said that it's not a big deal.
4. Concreteness: There is an employer hiring for a company and he was
conducting an interview. The interviewee tells him his background as well as
his capabilities.
5. Courtesy: There are two people from different religious backgrounds; one
Christian and one Muslim. They respectfully acknowledge each other's faiths
and express mutual interest in learning about the things that are not
common in their own religion and celebrating their diversity.
6. Clearness: Someone called to schedule a meeting to discuss the ideas from a
previous brainstorming session. He expresses appreciation for the previous
ideas and humbly asks for a convenient time to meet. The recipient thanks
them and agrees to consider the request.
7. Correctness: An employee asks the employer for a week off to go to his
village with his son and his dog to sell his land. He initially misunderstands,
thinking he wants to sell his son as well as his dog, but the employee
clarifies that he only wants to sell his land.

by: Joanna Fabon, Jhoi Atasha Valentin, and Shermmel delos Reyes

1. Clearness is one of the 7 Cs of communication.

2. Completeness is not important in effective communication.

3. Conciseness in communication means the message should be direct or straight

to the point.

4. Correctness in communication means using proper grammar.

5. Concreteness is effective communication backed up by facts.

6. Courtesy helps create a positive vibe with the audience.

7. Clearness is use of jargon words.

8. Consideration is result of connection with the audience

9. Politeness does not belong to 7C’s communication.

10. Clarity and clearness are the same.

After our discussion, we had a very short quiz consisting of ten items. Majority

three.
