Main notions
This chapter presents the main notions that are introduced in Vision2008/Vision2009.
System name
The system name corresponds to a referential used for the definition of the models in the library. A system contains
common family names and orientation.
For example, the “VIT” system is using JEDEC standard names and a 0° orientation is set when the wider dimension of
the object is horizontal.
Reference library
A reference library is a library that is considered by the customer as a reference because it contains useful model
families for a given system and acquisition head.
A library becomes a reference library when it is added to the Reference library table.
Only one library with the same system name and acquisition head can be added to the Reference library Table.
Correspondence table
The correspondence table stores the links between customer part numbers and the model families present in the
referenced libraries defined by the customer.
Model family
Component and ID code (DataMatrix & Barcode) models are now gathered into model families that contain these
common properties:
- the package type family and sub-family
- The body size and pad positions
- The tolerances
The paste, skip, fiducial and text models are still presented alone and are not gathered into model families.
Several kinds of image files are used in Vision2008 that contain different information:
- OIS files (Object Image Sample) : these files contain the images corresponding to all the light levels used in
the zone, the real position of the component in the image, the acquisition context (acquisition head used,
lighting level settings and additional information) and the expected defect list (only if the OIS has been
acquired in production).
- OTR files (Object Test Record) for components, paste pad or text. This is equivalent to an OIS file containing
model information. These files replace the former .dbg files.
- VBI files (ViT Benchmark Image): corresponding to an OIS file with certified expected results.
If the colour image creation feature is activated (for I-Lite machines only), then the OIS created for the defective
components during the inspection process will contain 5 images corresponding to the 5 light levels and a colour image.
DefectViewer
The DefectViewer is a new application that replaces the former Repair application.
The goal of this new application is to:
- be able to diagnose individual defects
- make it easier to identify the defect location
- provide a more attractive GUI and image display, using colour images
Chapter 1: Installation
The installation section describes all the necessary operations to properly install Vision2009 software.
All the necessary procedures and drivers are available on the installation CD.
The ComET 1.11B drivers are available under the installation CD.
Vision2009, Vision2007R and Vision2008 work with Cognex CVL 6.5 drivers, while versions K to Vision2007 of Vision
software were using CVL 6.2 drivers.
Consequently, it might be necessary to upgrade the CVL drivers before running Vision2009.
The Vision2009 setup install the CVL6.5 if they are not already present on the machine.
3. Restart the PC
Once the Cognex CVL 6.2 drivers are uninstalled, you must restart your PC.
If downgrading to Vision2007 is necessary please uninstall Cognex CVL 6.5 drivers, and then reinstall
CVL 6.2 drivers following the same procedure.
This license allows running Vision2009 and the latest versions of Vision2007, Vision2008 and
Vision2007R
To install [Link] and all the necessary software, please launch the Vision2009_vx.[Link] located
under the installation CD (where [Link] represents the release number).
Accept the terms of the License Agreement by ticking the corresponding checkbox, then click on the Next button.
Then select the folder where the software must be installed. Bu default, it will be installed under C:/VIT.
Then click on the Next button.
To set up correctly the MSDE 2000 server, it is necessary to configure a MSDE password that will be later used on for
database administration.
Vision2009 and all the selected components are now being installed on the computer.
At any moment, it is possible to display the details of the installation progress by clicking on the Show details button.
Then select the features that need to be installed, and click on the Next button.
When the installation completes, click on the Finish button to close the Matlab runtime installer and go back to Vision
setup.
If MSDE server is already installed on the PC, the following message will be displayed. MSDE 2000 will not be need to
be installed, but the necessary ModelDatabase database will be added in the existing MSDE server.
To define the lighting offsets for the machine, please use the INSTALL VISION2007R ON PILOT MACHINE [Link]
procedure.
Then input the lighting offsets in the ViHardwareConfiguration_xxxx.ini file, in the following section:
[iodriver_2]
Error Offset=lightType1=0|lightType2=0|lightType3=0|lightType4=0
• In case Vision2009 has already been installed and configured on the machine
The lighting offsets have already been set in the ViHardwareConfiguration_xxxx.ini file corresponding to the previous
software version.
You can then either:
• Extract manually the lighting offsets from the ViHardwareConfiguration_xxxx.ini file corresponding to the
previous version and then input them in the ViHardwareConfiguration_xxxx.ini file located on the
C:/VIT/Config folder.
• Use the “Import parameters” feature of the VisionSetup to import automatically the lighting offsets set in the
ViHardwareConfiguration_xxxx.ini file corresponding to the previous version. Please check chapter 2.5 for
more details.
The type of calibration used (manual or automatic) is configurable in the [Grey calibration] section of the
[Link] file.
[Grey calibration]
Adjustment parameter (0: lens aperture, 1: light power command) // 0 = manual calibration active
// 1 = auto calibration active
When a grey level calibration is made, do not open the diaphragm even if measures seem to
be incorrect.
Try first to click on “Auto Calibration” button: the calibration should pass.
Chapter 2: Configuration
The configuration section describes all the necessary operations to configure Vision2009 software.
1. Vision Setup
To ensure correct AOI system functioning, the hardware configuration must be properly set when starting Vision2009
for the first time.
A user friendly interface, accessible when starting [Link] application, gives access to the AOI system
configuration. This new application replaces the former Vision Reset mode.
All settings are saved in the ViHardwareConfiguration_xxxx.ini file, where xxxx represents the
selected machine configuration.
1. Main window
The Main window is composed with :
- the standard machine selection listbox,
- the Parameters and ID readers tabs
- the Parameters description section
- the Hardware component photo section
- the Hardware component description section
B C
1. Select the AOI system type from the Standard Machine Selection listbox (A): for each machine type, a
standalone mode also exists.
2. Eventually tick the Also create parameter’s information files checkbox (D) to export the corresponding
summary files.
3. Click on the Import Parameters… button (C) to import the configuration parameters from another
configuration file. See chapter 5.
4. Once the modifications are done, clicking on the OK button saves the modifications and exits the machine
setup.
When ticked, the Also create parameter’s information files checkbox allows to export in the
following .html files the parameters defined in this Machine Setup window:
- [Link]
- [Link]
- [Link]
The Switch to Expert mode button (B) allows to display specific parameters which access is restricted
to expert users (support team and agents).
A password is required to be able to switch to this Expert mode.
For each machine configuration, the default drivers that must be used are defined in the
ViHardwareConfiguration_xxxx.xml file, located under the C:/VIT/Config folder.
Once a parameters group is selected on the left, the corresponding parameters appear in the right, and the picture of
the associated hardware part is displayed in the Hardware component photo section (A).
If the user clicks on a parameter name, then the corresponding Unit and Description information appear in the
Parameter Description section (B).
B
A
A
B
Once a reader is selected in the list, the corresponding parameters appear in the Parameters section, while the
reader picture is displayed in the Hardware Component Photo section.
In the reader parameters section, the port number used for communication between the reader and the
PC must be carefully defined.
The internal camera does not need to be activated in the ID readers tab anymore.
The internal camera must be activated from the 1D/2D readers tab in the TST file configuration window.
Both internal identification (using the internal camera) and external identification (using an external
barcode reader) can be used at the same time.
These have to be defined carefully in the 1D/2D readers tab in the TST file configuration window.
Only the parameters that are set to a different value in the selected configuration file to import will be
displayed.
If the Import Parameters feature is used twice, only the remaining parameters that have not been
imported yet will be listed.
2. Language configuration
Vision2009 is multilingual and supports the following languages: English, French and Japanese.
By default, the language used by AVision software corresponds to the language set for the Operating System.
However, it is possible to define a specific language for AVision software, while the operating system is using another
language.
5. Set the value of the language key according to the table below
English 0x09
French 0x0C
Japanese 0x11
The .tst files created with previous versions of Vision software can be used directly with Vision2009.
However, the library files created with Vision2006 or Vision2007 must be converted to the Vision2008 format. This
operation is done automatically when a library with a previous format is opened by the Vision2009 application.
The converted library is saved during the conversion process. Its folder is renamed adding the extension “.backup” and
the end of the initial name.
Once the library file has been converted to the Vision2008 format, the .tst and linked library can be used in debug
mode or production mode as before.
The conversion of very large Release K libraries may use a lot of memory and last several
minutes.
The system name corresponds to the referential used for the definition of the models in the library:
common family names and orientation.
For example, the “VIT” system is using JEDEC standard names and a 0° orientation is set when the
wider dimension of the object is horizontal.
Now, the Lighting settings that should be used with a library are saved with it. They are accessible
in the new library property window.
By default, they correspond to the default settings defined for the acquisition head associated to the
library.
Once the library has been converted to the Vision2008 format, the following window appears to select how the library
lightings should be propagated to the existing
zones.
- If the user clicks on the “No” button: the zones lightings are not modified.
- If the user clicks on the “Yes” button with no checkbox checked: the lighting of the standard zones (except all
protected zones) will be replaced by the library lightings.
- If “Update protected zones” is checked and the user clicks on the “Yes” button: the lightings of all the zones
(standard + protected) will be replaced by the library lightings.
- If “Destroy useless joker zones” is checked and the user clicks on the “Yes” button: all the joker zones from
the .tst files that are not set as recommended joker zones in the library are removed.
The recommended use of a joker zone/centered zone is defined in the library, in the Model
family edition window, under the “Properties” tab.
- If “Create joker and centered zones according to linked library” is checked and the user clicks on the “Yes”
button: joker and centered zones will be created in the .tst file according to the recommended joker and
centered zones defined in the library.
The library lightings will be applied to these zones. If specific lightings have been defined in the library for the
recommended joker zones, they will be applied to the created joker zones.
5 Treatments update
During the library conversion process, the fiducial model treatments will be modified as follow:
- If a Blob or another treatment is used as treatment 1 in a fiducial model, then this treatment will be
automatically converted into a Vi-Pro treatment. Because the Vi-Pro parameters are not set, this Vi-Pro
treatment is set to a Deactivated state.
- If a Blob or another treatment was used as treatment 2 (or more) in a fiducial model and Vi-Pro was used as
treatment 1, then the Vi-Pro treatment is kept unmodified, while the other treatment is deleted.
This chapter describes how to create a new .tst file and a new library using the TST wizard and MatchMaker tools.
1 First steps
The TST wizard can be opened from the menu File/New/Tst file or by pressing CTRL+T in debug mode.
- A dialog box appears to select the .vis file to use: select a file, then click on the “Open” button
- The “TST Wizard – Build CAD file & check limits” window appears.
- Click on the “Next” button: the CAD file is built. The “TST wizard – Select file” window appears.
- Select whether you want to use with this new .TST file:
- An existing library, by setting the checkbox “Append library” and clicking on the “…” (browse) button
- A new library, by setting the checkbox “New library” ,and filling the “System” and “Acquisition head” fields.
- In the Family Search zone, the available system in the Model Correspondence table are listed. The list can be
restricted to the reference libraries using the defined acquisition head.
- Select one or several reference libraries in which interesting models may be available.
- Then, click on the “Next” button
From Vision2008, the customer can use its own referenced libraries. Matchmaker is now connected to a
correspondence table (see paragraph 3), which stores the links between customer part numbers and the model
families present in the referenced libraries.
The reference libraries define the contents of the Model database. If a library is set as a reference, information are
then stored in database. Therefore, all modifications in referenced libraries need to be updated in the database using
the “Synchronize” or “Synchronize all” buttons.
2. The “TST Wizard – Link between CAD file and library” window display
The “TST Wizard - Link between CAD file and library” window is accessed either by:
- Creating a new TST file using the TST wizard,
- Going to menu editor\model while an existing TST file is displayed.
- If the model is already in the customer library or correspondence PN<-> model family is already
known:
o If you fill an existing library, some models are already present in the library. By default, the models
in customer library are set in listbox prefixed by “Customer Library”
o If there is a known correspondence between the Part Number and a model family : it appears in the
listbox, prefixed by the system name
o In this window, all the available model families from the reference libraries are sorted by system,
model family and acquisition head.
o Select the model family that must be imported into the new library
4. MatchMaker
The behaviour of MatchMaker in Vision2007 is fully described in Vision2007 User Manual.
Only the main evolutions brought by Vision2008 are presented here.
Matchmaker button becomes available if at least one Part Number is ticked to find its corresponding model, and if the
model table settings have been correctly set.
- The search for corresponding models has become a search for corresponding model families
- The models are searched into the model families of the referenced libraries (using all the information
contained in the table of correspondence (i.e. model database)
- The grid model selection gives the score for each model: the customer can then select which model
family he wants to import into its new library.
When going back to the “TST wizard – Link between CAD file and library” window, the models defined in Matchmaker
are displayed in the “Import” column.
5. Missing treatments
Once the models families to import are selected, if some customer JEDEC does not have any corresponding model
family, the next step of the TST wizard will create missing treatments in the new library.
The Model Correspondence table configuration window opens when going to the menu Tools/Model Database.
This table lists all the libraries that are defined as reference libraries.
Once listed in this Reference library Table, the reference libraries can be used to create useful links between the
models.
1. Database settings
The model correspondence table is built on a database attached to a server. The Model Database Settings window
helps to specify the connection parameters for this server.
- First, the name of the MS-SQL server used should be selected in the list. “(local)” can be used if the server is
installed locally on the machine.
- Then, enter the user and password identifiers to log in to the server.
- Once this information is correctly filled in all the Databases available on the selected server should be listed in
the Database list box.
- Select a database from the list, then click on the OK button.
Once the Model database window closes it returns to the “Model correspondence table configuration” window.
- Add: a reference library with given system and acquisition head parameters can be added to the table by
clicking on the “Add” button.
- Modify: The reference library listed for a given system and acquisition head can be changed by clicking on the
“Modify” button
- Synchronize: when a modification has been made to the selected reference library for Vision2008, clicking on
the “Synchronize” button allows updating of the database with the latest modifications.
- Synchronize all: when a modification has been made to one or several reference libraries for Vision2008,
clicking on the “Synchronize all” button allows updating of the database with the latest modifications made to
all of the listed reference libraries.
- Default system: a reference library can be set as the default system to which VBI files will be imported with
the Import function.
- Remove: a reference library can be removed from the Reference Library table and the database by clicking on
the “Remove” button.
A confirmation message will appear with details about the use of this reference library:
o If the reference library is said to be used by other computers, then its models will not be removed
from the database
o If the reference library is said NOT to be used by other computers, all the models will be removed
from the database.
This chapter describes the structure of the new library, where the paste, fiducial, text, skip and ID code
models are now presented separately.
Component and ID code (DataMatrix & Barcode) models are now gathered into model families that contain
these common properties:
- the package type family and sub-family
- The body size and pad positions
- The tolerances
The paste, skip, fiducial and text models are still presented alone and are not gathered into model families.

levels.
2. Execute LibraryPro
The LibraryPro feature can be executed by clicking on the following button from the toolbar:
The complete execution process and results are described on section 5 of this document, entitled “LibraryPro”.
4. Create a model
Both model families and models can be created using the same button.
- Create a model
To create a model, please select the model family in which it should be created, then click on the Create a model
button from the toolbar.
The same window will appear with package type, sub-package type and model family name fields already filled in.
6. Edit a model
The selected model can be edited by double clicking on its name, or by clicking on the following button on the toolbar:
In this Model window, a button has been added that allows launching the ImageEdit application for the selected
image file with the specified light level settings:
In the result table, the execution results for this model on the selected image file(s) or image folder are displayed.
In the case of the image folder, the results table will contain one line per image file. This model can be tested on all
the images contained in the selected folder, or on specific images (with no defect, with missing defect, etc).
By default, the Model family window opens with the “Model family properties” tab selected.
This Model family properties tab contains the package type, the subpackage type, the geometrical description and
the usage context of the model family.
The Model family test tab allows one to test the model family on one or several image files saved in the selected
folder.
The results of the test(s) are displayed in the Results table, where each line corresponds to the test of the model
family on one image.
The name of the displayed Winner model corresponds to the first model tested who’s result
has reached the defined winning threshold.
To ensure optimal results are displayed all the columns of the Results table can be
easily rearranged:
- useless columns can be hidden by dragging and dropping them outside the table
- column sorting can be modified by dragging and dropping the selected column to a
more appropriate location
- hidden columns can be added to the results table using the contextual menu.
From this model family test tab, double clicking on one result line opens the “Results of model family” window, in
which the execution results of all the models of this model family on the corresponding image file are displayed.
Double clicking on one line of this results table opens the corresponding Model edition window.
It can then be pasted to the selected location by clicking on the following button:
Several operations can be performed directly using the Contextual menus. These menus appear when right clicking on
the zone.
- Model creation
- Model family edition (normal mode)

To record OIS files in process mode, a .tst file should be open. The corresponding panel should be loaded.
Component Image Recording parameters, the topology and board numbers are filled in automatically
according to the selected object.
The OIS file recording for one topology in process mode can also be launched using the F11
shortkey (for a populated panel).
In the Component Image Recording parameters, the JEDEC field is filled in automatically according to the selected
object.
- A comment (optional)
- The destination directory where the recorded OIS will be stored
- The Extract Images status: if this checkbox is checked, images with .bmp format will be extracted from the
recorded OIS files for the 5 light levels.
- Additional information (optional)
Then click on the Start production button and load a panel. The OIS files will be recorded for all the components
defined in the recording parameters window.
To recording OTR, either press CTRL+D or click on the “OTR rec” button on the toolbar:
The OTR image files recording folder is defined in the TST configuration window, in the Production
tab.
By default for .tst files created under Vision2009 the OTR files are recorded in C:\VIT\OTR\ folder.
VBI files correspond to OIS files that have been certified. However, image files are directly recorded in the VBI format
in a specific situation: when using empty panels.
In the Component Image Recording parameters screen, the topology and board numbers are filled in automatically
according to the selected object.
Image file management is done in the ViTImageManager application which is installed in the C:\VIT\ folder by the
Vision2009 setup package.
In the ViTImageManager application, several operations can be performed on the recorded OIS & OTR files:
- Search for image files (OIS/OTR/VBI)
- Transform OIS files into certified VBI files
- Import external VBI files
- Edit OIS/VBI properties
- View the coverage report of VBI files
- Copy/Move/Delete/Export files
1 ViTImageManager display
Select the OIS/OTR/VBI file to view and then click on the Open button: The Visualization screen appears.
The image File Viewer will be launched automatically when double clicking on a image
file from Windows Explorer, as soon as it is defined as the default application to use to
open the corresponding image files extensions.
If the OIS file has been recorded from a known good panel the message “Certified good panel” will appear in the
Defect list area to give the panel status information to the user.
Even if this OIS has been recorded from a known good panel, it has not been transformed
automatically into a certified VBI file because position error or position deviation may exist for this
object.
If the OIS file has been recorded from an empty panel, the message “Empty panel” will appear in the Defect list area
to give the panel status information to the user.
- Optional user information: provides an opportunity for the user to add more information about this object
(position error type)
- Image zone: the main image and the 5 images corresponding to the various light levels are displayed.
Several operations are possible on the main image. These operations are described in the chapters 6-3-4 and
6-3-5.
- File management zone: information about the displayed image file and navigation controls for the selected
image files.
At any time the search parameters can be reset to the last Search settings by clicking on
the “Reset” button.
In this window image files corresponding to the selected search criteria are listed.
- Certification: the certification of OIS files and VBI files can be performed from the Certification screen. A
target directory must be set before clicking on the “Certification” button. The certification screen is
presented in detail in this section, chapter 3-3.
- Exportation (for VBI only): the selected VBI file can be exported from its current folder to the target
directory. A target directory should be set before clicking on the “Export” button.
- Importation (for VBI only): the selected VBI file can be imported from its current folder to the target
directory. A target directory should be set before clicking on the “Import” button. The “VBI importation”
screen is presented in detail in this section, chapter 3-4.
- Moving: the selected file can be moved from its current folder to the target directory. A target directory
should be set before clicking on the “Move” button.
- Copying: the selected file can be copied from its current folder to the target directory. A target directory
should be set before clicking on the “Move” button.
- Going back to search criteria: if the results of the search do not match expectations we can go back to the
Search window by clicking on the “Search criterions” button.
- The component position: in this zone, the component’s expected position parameters can be adjusted to
match the real position.
Then, the move, rotate and resize image functions described in this
section in chapter 3-4 may be applied.
The red arrows button can also be used to move the blue rectangular shape with the defined step:
- to the left
- to the right
- up
- down
Or to rotate it with the defined angular step:
- left
- right
- The defects list: In this zone, the component defects are listed and can be modified.
These “certified good panel” and “Empty panel” messages are displayed only to remind the
user of the status of the panel from which the image files were recorded.
- Polarity error
- Joint error
- Bridge error
Joint errors and bridge errors can be configured by clicking on the “Set” button: the Joint Errors / Bridge Errors
window will appear.
In the “Joint Errors” window the user can add or remove joint errors.
To add a new joint error, the side, first and last pin in error should be specified.
In the “Bridge Errors” window, the user can add or remove bridge errors.

select the comment he wants to add to the component from
an exhaustive list (Tombstone, Out of area, Pillow, Bill-board,
Flipped, Lifted lead, Other component).
This comment is only indicative and will appear as information
in the coverage report.
- Flag for position error: the user can use this flag if he
determines that the component has a position error or angle
error.
The position/angle error can then be classified according to
different IPC levels (IPC1, IPC2, IPC3)
Once all the information about component position and component defect are correct, clicking on the “Certify” button
will transform this OIS/OTR image file into a certified VBI file.
- Viewing another light level: To view another light level in the main image zone, just click on the image thumbnail
displayed on the right.
A blue outline indicates which light level is currently displayed.
- Moving the image: the main image can be moved in the window by clicking on the following button on the toolbar:

- Add a sub-pixel grid: a sub-pixel grid can be added to the image by clicking on the following button on thetoolbar:
The pixel grid and sub-pixel grid are visible only if a very high zoom has been applied to the
image.
As differences may exist between the expected position and the real object position, it is important to be able to move,
scale or rotate the rectangular tracker shape, which symbolizes the expected object position.
The following operations can be performed on the main image displayed in the image zone, using the mouse:
- Move the rectangular tracker: hold left click within the inner rectangle and
move the mouse
- Rotate the rectangular tracker: hold the Ctrl key and move the mouse pointer
to a corner, then hold left click and move the mouse. The rectangular tracker
will be rotated around the yellow cross.
- Rotate the rectangular tracker around the opposite corner: hold the Ctrl + Alt
keys and move the mouse pointer to a corner, then hold left click and move
the mouse. The rectangular tracker will be rotated around the opposite
corner.
- Resize the rectangular tracker: hold left click on one of the eight pink targets
and move the mouse
- Perform a symmetric resize of the rectangular tracker: hold the Alt key, hold
left click on one of the eight pink target and move the mouse
- Scale the rectangular tracker: hold the Shift key, hold left click on one of the
eight pink targets and move the mouse.
If the fields are not automatically filled in, the user can select from the list the package type family and package
type subfamily corresponding to his system.
If the user does not know the corresponding family name on his system he can search for a family name based on
the geometric description using the “Search” button.
Selecting one model family in the search results list will display its framework. Then, an adjustment to the CAD
orientation may be necessary: this can be done in the “CAD orientation” field below.
If the geometric description of the component in the original VBI file is not known, the user may
have to specifiy the body size and number of leads in order to use the “Search” feature.
The body size can be measured using the “Measure body” button.
The Auto Import known packages feature will help to more quickly import the VBI for which a
correspondence has been established between the initial and destination systems.
Once the Model database window closes it returns to the “VitImageManager” window.
Chapter 8: LibraryPro
LibraryPro is a new feature used to test the performance of a library. It is divided into 3 main steps:
- The creation of a table of images including known defects, empty boards, and good components
- The execution of the library using this table of images
- The generation of a report on the performance of the library concerning:
o The risk of false defects
o The risk of a wrong detection
o The model accuracy
1 LibraryPro execution
The LibraryPro feature can be executed from the new library by clicking on the following button on the toolbar:
The “LibraryPro run” window opens. In this window, the user can select the VBI files against which he will test his
library.
- Selection of parts: In this zone, the user can select which portions of the library should be tested. By default, the
whole library is tested, but the user can select specific families to test.
- Run parameters: when set, this checkbox enables testing of joints and bridges. If the image file has been acquired
during pre-reflow, the joint and bridge tests will be automatically disabled.
- VBI choice: in this zone the user can select which VBI files are used to test his library:
o The VBI root: contains the path to the folder where the selected VBI files are stored.
o The library can be evaluated for the Pre reflow process, the Post reflow process, or both.
o Expert filter: several fields can be specified to narrow the number of VBI files used to test the library.
2 LibraryPro report
The LibraryPro report appears after LibraryPro execution has been launched on the whole library or on a given model
family.
A
C
- The Configuration screen can be opened by clicking on the following button on the toolbar:
- This LibraryPro report can be exported to Excel format by clicking on the following button on the toolbar:
- This LibraryPro report can be exported to HTML format by clicking on the following button on the toolbar:
- the Test coverage represents the number of model families that have been tested on the library by applying the
calculation:
A family is Ratified if all the expected defects are found, if no false calls appear, and if the accuracy is
good. The ratified family is then identified with a specific icon in the library.
A family is NON Ratified if a false acceptance appears and/or a false call appears and/or the accuracy is
not good.
A family is Risky if one of its models might give a false acceptance or bad accuracy.
False acceptance appears when the expected result is set to a given defect type, but the actual result
is either OK or a different defect type.
False call appears when the expected result is set to OK, but the returned result is different from OK, or
the result is a defect that was not in the list of expected results.
Bad accuracy appears when the difference between the expected position values and the values
returned by the model are larger than the position Accuracy tolerances defined in the LibraryPro Report
Configuration window (see chapter 2).
This table lists all the families that have not been ratified as well as the reason why they were rejected: false
acceptance, false call, and/or bad accuracy.
From this table a model family can be retested on all the VBI associated with it.
- False acceptance
- False call
- Bad accuracy
- Number of VBI files used
- Occurrence of bad results
- The type of defect (Good, Missing, Polarity, Joint, Bridge, Position)
VBI for which positional accuracy problems are found will have their inaccurate position value(s) displayed in red.
A position error icon in the error column signifies a VBI for which a position error is found.
A position error appears if the position values dx, dy, dt of the component exceed the position
tolerances set for the model family.
If modifications are made to the accuracy tolerance values then the LibraryPro results will be automatically updated to
reflect those changes.
7. Fine tuning
Once the LibraryPro report is displayed, the tested models can be fine tuned.
From the “Non ratified families sorted by families” table, double clicking on one model family opens the “model family”
window for that model family.
In this window, the execution results of this model family on all the available VBI files are displayed.
In this window, the execution results for each model of the model family on the selected VBI file are displayed.
On top of the results table, the winner model (first model with a score higher than the defined winning threshold) is
displayed.
Double clicking on a result line for this table opens the “Model edition” window for the selected model.
The goal of LibraryPro is to verify that the model is accurate. It certifies that the model is able to return the real
position whether the component is correctly positioned or not.
- Accuracy issue
If: If:
Position found by the model = Position of the Position found by the model ≠ Position of the
component component
The Accuracy tolerance can be modified by clicking on the Report Configuration button from the
LibraryPro report toolbar.
- Position defect
A Position defect depends on the position tolerances defined in the library for the Model Family.
dX = 0.5 mm
Position found
by the model
Theoretical
position
In this example accuracy is good (Position found by the model = Position of the component)
Saving a position defect in the VBI file is not of interest because it depends on the tolerances used during
production.
The position tolerances can be modified for a given model family in the Model Family edition
window. In the library, select the model family, then click on the “Edit model” button from the
toolbar.
In Vision2009, the Kaleïdo feature allows creating colour images of the defects found during the inspection. These
colour images are then displayed in the DefectViewer windows, to help the operator review and repair more efficiently
the defects during the Repair process.
1. Feature activation/deactivation
The colour image creation can be activated/deactivated from the [Link] file, located in the C:/VIT/Config
folder:
[Color Images]
Max Cycle Time (s)=0.000 // maximum acceptable cycle time in production
Default Green Level (1, 255)=60 // default setting for green lighting
Default Blue Level (1, 255)=90 // default setting for blue lighting
LUT Green Min=70 // factory settings
LUT Green Max=170 // factory settings
LUT Red Min=0 // factory settings
LUT Red Max=220 // factory settings
If the defined maximum duration is reached while colour images are being acquired, the colour
image creation stops and the panel is conveyed: only a part of the defects will then be displayed
using colour images.
[Color Images]
Default Green Level (1, 255)=60 // default setting for green lighting
Default Blue Level (1, 255)=90 // default setting for blue lighting
LUT Green Min=70 // image transformation parameter
LUT Green Max=170 // image transformation parameter
LUT Red Min=0 // image transformation parameter
LUT Red Max=220 // image transformation parameter
The default color images settings set in the [Link] file will be applied to any new TST
file created.
However, they are not automatically applied to the existing TST files.
The color images creation can also be activated in the TST file configuration window, in the Production tab.
Ticking the “Activate” checkbox activates the colour images recording features, and clicking on the Default button
applies to the Green level and Blue level fields the default values defined in the [Link] file.
The color image creation is then activated for this TST file only.
The color image settings window is used to customize the color settings, and apply the color settings to a selection of
existing TST file. This avoid to edit manually all the tst files and activate the color in each file.
Once the color images creation feature is activated, color images are recorded for the defects found
during production. Then are then displayed on the DefectViewer screen.
To achieve the definition of the component dimensions on the real image, it is necessary to do the following:
- Draw rectangles around the component body and pins.
- Either enter the number of pins or define the pitch and pins area on the component image
Then the software will calculate the missing parameters. If necessary, the user will be able to modify the parameters
deduced by the software.
2. Open the component definition window from the Link model execution
To define a leaded component from Link model execution window, it is necessary to:
1. Open a .TST file
2. Execute the selected component on the .TST file
3. Edit the model from the Link model execution window
4. Add a “Custom” treatment
The “Component definition window” will then appear.
- On the left, the definition wizard main steps description, in which the user has to make several
consecutive measurements using the provided trackers on the real image
- On the center, the image zone, in which the user can select the light level he wants to work with, and make
the measurements. The OIS file is displayed with 0° angle.
- On the right, the definition fields, in which the values extracted from the measurement trackers, are
displayed.
A green ladder shows the progress within the definition wizard. This ladder is updated as soon as a step is validated by
clicking on the Validate button.
Then the wizard automatically goes on to the next step: the component body definition.
The user has to manually adjust the size and position of the tracker around the component body on the main image.
Once this is done, he needs to click on the Validate button to move on to the next step.
In the right part of the window, the Body size fields are automatically filled in with the values extracted from the
position and size of the tracker on the main image. These fields cannot be edited at this step: they are greyed out.
Once the user has clicked on the Validate button, the step is completed. The wizard
automatically moves on then to the next step.
It is not possible to go back to previous step.
The user has to manually adjust the size and position of the tracker around the pins area on the main image. The user
can either use the top, left, right or bottom pins areas, even if the tracker is positioned by default on the top pins area.
Once this is done, he needs to click on the Validate button to move on to the next step.
The tracker position is centered on the body size in X, over the top pins.
The user has to manually adjust the size and position of the tracker on top of a X pins area on the main image. The
user can either use the top or bottom pins areas, even if the tracker is positioned by default on the top pins area.
Once this is done, he needs to click on the Validate button to move on to the second measurement.
The tracker position is centered on the body size in Y, over the left pins.
The user has to manually adjust the size and position of the tracker around a Y pins area (in blue on the drawing
below) on the main image. The user can either use the left or right pins areas, even if the tracker is positioned by
default on the left pins area.
Once this is done, he needs to click on the Validate button to move on to the next step.
SO component
When a SO component is defined, pins are either located in X side (top and bottom) or Y side (left and right): only one
measurement is necessary.
The software automatically deduces from the body size defined in Step 2 if the component is square-shaped or
rectangular-shaped.
The pins are supposed to be located on the largest side.
The tracker position is centered on the largest side of the component body, over the pins.
The user has to manually adjust the size and position of the tracker around a pins area (in red on the drawing below)
on the main image.
If X is the largest side of the component, the user can either use the top or bottom pins areas, even if the tracker is
positioned by default on the top pins area.
If Y is the largest side of the component, the user can either use the left or right pins areas, even if the tracker is
positioned by default on the left pins area.
Once this is done, he needs to click on the Validate button to move on to the next step.
Connector component
When a Connector component is defined, pins are either located in X side (top or bottom) or Y side (left or right): only
one measurement is necessary.
The main image displayed is zoomed in to focus on the pin area measured by the user in Step 3.
The tracker is located in the middle of the pin area measured by the user in Step 3.
The user has to manually adjust the size and position of the tracker around the selected pin on the main image. Once
this is done, he needs to click on the Validate button to move on to the next step.
If the pin defined by the user is located outside the body, and not related to it, then the pin
position is automatically readjusted by the software. The pin size defined by the user is
modified accordingly.
In the right part of the window, the Pin size fields are automatically filled in with the values extracted from the position
and size of the tracker on the main image. These fields cannot be edited at this step: they are greyed out.
If the pin defined by the user is located inside the body, then the pin position is NOT readjusted
by the software. The pin size defined by the user is kept.
If the pin position defined by the user is outside the pin area defined in step 3, then the size of
the pin is saved and used in the next calculation, but its position is forgotten: the position of
the pin area is used.
The zoom settings applied to the image are kept from the Step 4.
The tracker is located on the pin measured by the user in previous step and embed the empty space on the right of
the pin.
The user has to manually adjust the size and position of the tracker around the selected pitch on the main image.
Once this is done, he needs to click on the Validate button to move on to the next step.
The pitch is measured by the user using the tracker, then set by the software to the most approximate normalized
value. In the right part of the window, the selected normalized value is displayed in the Pitch listbox from the
Definition fields.
By default, the stick to standard values checkbox is activated during the wizard, and cannot be modified.
If the stick to standard values option is activated and the measured pitch width is at least 0.2
mm higher than the closer standard value, then the stick to standard values option is
automatically desactivated, and the measured pitch width value is kept.
Connector component
For connector components only, the stick to standard values checkbox is desactivated by default during the wizard:
the pitch value set with the rec tracker is kept.
6. Results
Once the definition wizard is complete, the Definition fields are updated in the right part of the window: the number
of pins fields are automatically filled in with the values extracted from the previous measurements.
In the main image zone, the OIS image is automatically resized to its normal size. The main image and the wired
description of the component are displayed: one shape for the body and one shape for each pin.
This allows the user to check graphically if the description of the component is correct, and modify it if necessary (see
chapter 4).
Once the definition wizard is complete, all the Definition fields become editable.
Once the Definition wizard is complete, it is not possible to go back to the wizard: results can
then only be modified using the editable fields on the right part of the window, or graphically on
the image.
Once a value is modified, it is necessary to click on the Apply changes button to compute again the data and see the
changes on the wired description in the main image (excepted for “Pin area offset” arrow buttons).
When a modification is made using the graphical tools, the definition fields are updated, and then become greyed out.
(See chapter 4)
At any moment, the user can decide to discard its changes and go back to the wizard settings by
clicking on the Restore Wizard Settings button.
A confirmation message is then displayed to warn the user that his modifications will be lost.
The definition fields become editable again if they have been greyed out.
During the definition wizard, these fields are still not editable. At the end of the definition wizard, the fields become
editable.
Then, the user can modify the body size by inputting different values in the X and Y field. The modifications will be
applied only after clicking on the Apply changes button.
If the size of the body is modified (with the center of the component as reference) then the pin
area position is automatically adjusted to fit the new body: if the new body and the pin area
are distant, then the pin area is adjusted so that the size is kept, but the pins remain linked to
the body.
During the definition wizard, these fields are still not editable. At the end of the definition wizard, the fields become
editable.
Then, the user can modify the pin size by inputting different values in the Height and Width field. The modifications
will be applied only after clicking on the Apply changes button.
If the pin size is modified, but the width modification is lower than the pitch width, then the position of the center of
each pin stays identical. The pin area width is modified accordingly, its position is unchanged.
If the size of the pin is modified, the pin position will be automatically readjusted according to
the body position, so that the pin remains linked to the body.
During the definition wizard, the Pitch field is still not editable, and set by the software to the most approximate
normalized value (from a provided list of possible values). At the end of the definition wizard, the field becomes
editable.
The list of available values in the Pitch listbox is hard coded. The following values must be used
(in millimetres):
0.4, 0.5, 0.65, 0.8, 1.0, 1.27, 2.54.
If the user unchecks the Stick to standard values checkbox, input a value, then checks the
checkbox again, the most approximate value from the user input is selected in the defined
pitch values list.
The user can modify the pin number by inputting a different value in the Nb of pin in X side and Nb of pin in Y side
fields.
The Nb of pin in Y side field is used for QFP components only, when the component is rectangular shaped.
When the number of pins is modified, the pin area size is modified, the position of its center remains unchanged.
The modifications are applied only after clicking on the Apply changes button.
The defined offsets are applied to the position of the center of the pins encompassing area.
The pin size and pitch size values are not modified.
The offset applied when clicking on the Down or Up arrows is directly applied to the image: the
user doesn’t have to click on the Apply Settings button for this action only.
The offset that has been applied in real time when the user clicks on the Up or Down arrows
MUST NOT be applied again when clicking on the Apply settings button.
This is possible:
- Directly from the main image, using the contextual menu and the provided shortcuts
- From the definition fields, that are now editable (see chapter 4)
- Remove a pin: select a pin on the main image, then press the Delete key on the keyboard: the selected pin
is removed. The number of pins keeps the previous value. All the definition fields become greyed out.
At any moment, the user can decide to discard its changes and go back to the wizard settings
by clicking on the Restore Wizard Settings button.
Then the definition fields become editable again.
- Remove a pin: select a pin on the main image, then select “Remove” feature in the contextual menu: the
selected pin is removed. The number of pins field keeps the previous value. All the definition fields become
greyed out.
- Modify a pin position and size: select the pin on the main image, then select “Modify” feature in the
contextual menu: a tracker is displayed on the main image that can be moved and modified using the mouse.
Clicking on the Validate button allows to save the modifications made. The pin size fields keep their previous
values. All the definition fields become greyed out.
At any moment, the user can decide to discard its changes and go back to the wizard settings by
clicking on the Restore Wizard Settings button.
Then the definition fields become editable again.
If one of the standard light level is not available, then it is not displayed.
Icon Description
Allows to resize the trackers
Allows to have the zoom automatically sets so that the image fits
within the main image area.
Allows to resize the main image to its normal size
The Validate button is available only if a tracker is active in the main image.
At any moment, the user can modify the selected light level, by clicking on the corresponding thumbnail image
displayed on the right of the main image. (See chapter 5.1).
Several operations can be performed on the main image, using the image tools described in chapter 5.2.
4. Tracker tools
It is important to be able to move or scale the rectangular tracker shape which symbolizes the object position.
The following operations can be performed on the main image displayed in the image zone, using the mouse:
- Move the rectangular tracker: hold left click within the inner rectangle and move the mouse
- Resize the rectangular tracker: hold left click on one of the eight pink targets and move the mouse
- Perform a symmetric resize of the rectangular tracker: hold the Alt key, hold left click on one of the
eight pink target and move the mouse
- Scale the rectangular tracker: hold the Shift key, hold left click on one of the eight pink targets and move
the mouse.
A new tool has been introduced in the Custom Treatment, which presents a statistical view of the grey level
distribution on all the histogram pins: the user can then adjust the Lower Bound and Upper Bound parameters
according to the statistical repartition displayed.
A recording feature also allows to export in a .CSV file the average grey level values found during histogram and
custom treatment execution in production mode.
When the user has retrieved the useful information he needs, he can exit the window by clicking on the Exit button. It
returns then to the Solder Joint detection window.
The graph shows all the histogram results even those which are outside of the fixed thresholds.
The negative values are replaced by 0.
A control allows to modify the smoothing factor used in the algorithm. Clicking on Refresh
button then applies the modification on the 3 curves.
At any moment, it is possible to go back to the original parameters by clicking on the Fit
button.
A measurement ladder is provided to help the user measuring sharply the values from the
graph.
The corresponding x and y values are displayed on top of the graph.
Once the joint histogram results recording feature is activated, a JOINT REC sign appears in the
top right corner of the production screen.
That way, the feature stays activated in the next production sessions, until the user disables it.
If the process password is set, then the password is asked in production when the user
presses CTRL+J keys, before the confirmation message.
To desactivate the joint histogram results recording feature that has been activated in the production mode, the user
must:
- press CTRL+J keys while the production screen is displayed
- when the following confirmation message appears, click on Yes button:
Once the joint histogram results recording feature is desactivated, the JOINT REC sign
disappears from the top right corner of the production screen.
If the process password is set, then the password is asked in production when the user
presses CTRL+J keys, before the confirmation message.
This folder is automatically created by Vision when joint data are recorded.
The same file can include results from different models of the family, depending on the winner model.
4. Recorded data
The following data only are recorded into the result file:
- the tested components
- the winner model results
- the components which are not seen as “missing” (presence error)
- the custom and histogram treatments used in the joint equation
- the activated treatments
For the custom treatment, we record for each pin the results of the 3 histograms used for the joint detection:
- histogram placed on the left of the pin
- histogram placed on the right of the pin
- histogram placed on the end of the pin
In all cases, it corresponds to the average value of the histogram, even if the treatment score is associated to the
“Median” or “Mode” or “Deviation” or “Area%” value.
Even if a treatment is used twice in the equation, its results are exported only once in the .CSV
file.
The separator character is defined in the regional settings of the operating system. It corresponds to the “List
separator” field (the software uses this character).
For many languages, as English, the comma is used by default. For French language, a semicolon is used because
comma is already used as decimal separator.
For a custom treatment, one line is used per pin. The results of the 3 joint detection histograms are
provided on the same line.
If one of them is not activated, then the corresponding field is filled with “NA”.
The line is created even if the 3 histogram are disabled so that the data are correctly organized within
the file.
As results from different components are recorded in the same Model family results file, no control
is made on the light levels used.
By default, results files are recorded for all the available model families (no way to select a list of
components).
If the library used is stored on a common shared folder, then all the machines using this library in production are
updated as soon as a new version of the library is available.
[Production]
Protect library access with lock file (0,1) = 0 // multi user mode
Activate library live update during production (0,1) = 0 // feature activation/desactivation
Display library live update indicator (0,1)= 0 // display in production
In order to protect the library accesses, a new specific “lock” file is created inside each library folder. Before reading or
writing on a library, the software verifies if it can do it safely: it checks in the file status if someone else already uses
it, and if not register itself as a reader or a writer.
If someone else already reserved the library, it waits a little then retry. If it is still not accessible after several
attempts, it informs the user that the library access is locked and asks him if he wants to retry or cancel its operation.
The library is reserved (means the library access is locked) only during the time needed by the
software to read or write on the library files.
The Library live update and the library access protection functionalities are not compatible with
the Shared library mode (using CVS).
The library access protection functionality allows a multi user access but this is not a real
Shared Library mode as we can do with CVS.
If 2 users are modifying a same library in parallel, the modification made by the first user who
saves its work will be erased by the one who saves its modification afterwards.
Windows Explorer does not manage safely the lock file. Consequently, it should not be used to
make a copy or to move a library.
We then provide a new software called [Link] which allows to move or copy a
library. This is a very simple application which asks for a library source and a target folder. See
chapter 11.2.3.
During production, it is possible to open an OTR file and fine-tune its models (as before). Then, it is possible to select a
library (it can be the library used in production) and replace its models by the OTR models. This action is protected
with the use of the lock file.
Once the library has been updated on disk, the production reloads it.
The Library live update functionality cannot be activated if the library access protection is not
set.
2. How to use it
The model in the library will be modified if and only if the following conditions are met:
- the same CAD system is used in the OTR model
- the same acquisition head is used in the OTR model
The model in the library will be modified if and only if the following conditions are met:
- the same CAD system is used in the OTR model
- the same acquisition head is used in the OTR model
If several machines use the same library in production mode, then the “Activate library live
update during production” key must be activated on all the machines so that the library is
automatically updated after a modification is made.
It is possible to:
- copy the source library folder to a new location by selecting an empty folder
- To overwrite and existing library by selecting an existing .bm file
The VISCAM tool has been introduced to ensure a quicker creation of the VIS file from the CAD data.
First of all, the PCBImageMatrix application must be used to acquire images of the real PCB, on the machine.
Then, VISCAM tool uses the images created by the PCBImageMatrix software to define graphically the main elements
available on this PCB.

1 DefectViewer configuration
1. Main configuration
When launching the DefectViewer application for the first time, the following configuration screen will appear:
- the Folder configuration window, in which
the folders where icon files, configuration
files, TST files and real pictures will be
stored are defined
2. Initial settings
Most of the settings can be configured in the Initial settings window, available from the menu Settings/Initial
settings:
- inline mode settings
- offline mode settings
- the review mode settings
- the Login settings
- Panel and subpanel code modifications
- the GUI parameters
- Other settings
- If the “Automatic panel release” feature is enabled in online mode, the panel is
automatically released after the defined timer has passed without repair operation. All the
defects of the panel are set to “Un-repaired” state.
- The timer is automatically deactivated when the operator initiates the repair operation.
- This is used with the “Remote Repair” feature.
- If the “Revisit reviewed panel” feature is enabled, the software allows users to
revisit reviewed panels even if they have already been reviewed and their repair status
is set to “Repaired” or others.
- If the “Revisit reviewed panel” feature is disabled, the software allows users to revisit
reviewed panels only if the repair status is set to “Not repaired”.
To be able to revisit a reviewed panel, the customer has to configure the Defect Image
Management in the Supervisor (see chapter 14.1)
- Review mode
If the “Sort by” parameter is set to “Subpanel”: the defective components display order is the
same as it was in the former Repair software.
If the “Repair mode” is set to “Random”: the software allows defects to be reviewed randomly.
That means the user can click on any of the defect images displayed on the right part of the
screen or any component on the PCB to perform random repair.
- Logins
If the “Activate access control” is enabled, the software allows only the listed operators to
login with their defined password.
- GUI parameters
- Others
If the “Operator analysis” is enabled, the software allows the operators to modify the AOI
sanction by pressing CTRL+A keys.
If the “Bar code printer” is enabled, the user is allowed to print the ID code on a barcode
printer (only Zebra TLP 3842 printers are supported). The software allows the option to print
this barcode if “not repaired” defects still exist on the panel at the end of the operator review.
3. Message customization
The various messages (for error, diagnostic or software) can be configured in the “Configurable messages”
window, available from the menu Settings/Configurable messages to allow engineers giving specific instructions
or messages to the operators.
- Error messages
From this window, specific messages can be added or removed. When clicking on the “Add” button, the
“Message(s) to show for a given defect” window appears.
The user can enter a message that will appear for a given defect when the selected filter conditions are
matched. The following filters can be set:
- Component reference
- JEDEC name
- Defect type
- Diagnostic messages
From this window, specific messages can be added or removed. When clicking on the “Add” button, the
“Message(s) to show after diagnosis” window appears.
The user can enter a message that will appear for a given diagnosis when the selected filter conditions are
matched and when the “Diagnosis” button is pressed. The following filters can be set:
- Component reference
- JEDEC name
- Diagnosis key
- Software messages
From this window, specific messages can be added or removed. When clicking on the “Add” button, the
“Message(s) to show after diagnosis” window appears.
1. Network settings
First of all, check that the DefectViewer software is linked to the Supervisor by opening the menu
Settings/Network: the “Network access configuration” window appears:
The name of the network on which the Supervisor database is located should be set as Server name.
If the “Activate access control” is enabled, a User name and password is required to proceed.
- Once the User name (and password) is filled in, the “Read Bar code” window appears:
The panel barcode (may be ID code or timestamp) and the side number of the panel to review must be input.
- If the corresponding .tst file is not found in the C:/VIT/Data folder, the following “Open tst file” window
appears:
The corresponding .tst file can then be added to the C:/VIT/Data folder by clicking on the “Add tst file” button.
- Then, the offline review screen appears, with the selected panel information loaded.

If color images have been recorded during production (for ILite machines only), they will be
displayed instead of Black/White images in the “Tested objects” zone.
- The toolbar
The toolbar contains the following buttons: Escape, Detailed view, Finish, Previous, Next, Repaired, Acceptable,
Not Repaired, Dummy Fault, Washed and Ejected.
5. Reviewing a panel
To review a panel in offline mode:
- Stipulate a repair status for the reviewed panel (Repaired, Acceptable, Not repaired, Dummy fault,
Washed) or navigate through defective components using the Previous and Next arrows
- Once the status for the whole panel has been set, a confirmation message appears.
- If confirmed, the current panel display is closed and the User name prompt window reappears.
- The repair status of the panel is updated accordingly in the Supervisor database.
6. Reviewing a defect
Review a defect in offline mode with “Allow random repair” feature activated:
- Select the light level image that gives the best view of the defect
- Then set the repair status for the reviewed component (Repaired, Acceptable, Not repaired, Dummy fault,
Washed) or navigate through defective components using the Previous and Next arrows
- Once the repair status is given for the defective component, the Current defect screen closes. Its image in
the “Tested objects zone” is bordered with the colour corresponding to the Repair state (green for
Repaired, Acceptable, Dummy fault and Washed, red for Not Repaired and skip)
- When all the wanted defects are reviewed, clicking on the “Finish” button allows the user to exit the panel
and the repair status in the Supervisor database is updated.
The current panel review can be stopped at any moment by clicking on the “Esc” button. The
repair status will then not be recorded in the Supervisor database.
Review a defect in offline mode with “Allow random repair” feature deactivated:
- The “current defect” window is automatically displayed for the first defect in the list. Other defects cannot
be selected by clicking on their images to the right.
in the “Tested objects zone”, the selected defect is bordered in different colour.
- Select the light level image that gives the best view of the defect
- Then set the repair status for the reviewed component (Repaired, Acceptable, Not repaired, Dummy fault,
Washed) or navigate through defective components using the Previous and Next arrows
- Once the repair status is given for the defective component, the Current defect screen is closed, and
immediately replaced by the Current Defect screen for the next defective component in the list. The image
of the repaired component in the “Tested objects zone” is bordered with the color corresponding to the
Repair state (green for Repaired, Acceptable, Dummy fault and Washed, red for Not Repaired and skip)
- If there are some defects without a verdict at the end of the review, a message proposes that the operator
again review the defects that have not been repaired. If he clicks on “yes”, another review will begin. If he
clicks on “no”, the repair status for defects without a verdict will be saved as “Unrepaired” in the
Supervisor database.
- Once the review is finished, the repair statuses are updated in the Supervisor database.
The “Allow Random Repair” feature can be used in both online and offline modes.
In this window, the repair state and the error given by the AOI can be modified by the user.
This feature is available if the option “Enable Operator Analysis” is selected in the Initial
Settings window.
Previously, it was already possible to revisit reviewed panels even if it has been viewed and Repair
Status=Repaired, when the “Revisit Reviewed Panel” option is activated.
However, it was not possible to revisit with defect images without extra settings and actions.
The image storage management can be configured from the Supervisor configuration window, which is
automatically launched when the new Supervisor version has been installed.
Once the hard disk capacity management is activated, the following parameters must be set:
- the % of hard disk space that must remain free: images files will be automatically deleted
when this low space is reached.
- the % of hard disk space above which the automatic deletion if images stops.
- The number of days during which the newer images should be protected.
The selected folder for Defect images storage must be dedicated to that: any other document
stored in this folder will be erased.
In the case where the hard disk free space is already lower than the defined the % of hard disk
space that must remain free, a warning message appears to warn the user.
