due to this event. The influence from people of different parts of the world may lead to the
adoption of foreign cultures and values. As a result, we may possibly accept their ways and
views to be more superior to our long lasting traditional norms and customs.

beneficial for the host, it is my contention that for our country it may not be financially viable
to host it, and even if we did, our culture and traditional ways of life may be at risk.

For many of us ‘school’ connotes fun and merriment. The chance to learn while mingling with
friends will be unrivalled for a lifetime. However, the question at the moment is how will the
new proposal of installing surveillance cameras change the perception towards school? It is a
mixed blessing, to say the least.

On the one hand, I find the idea of being under surveillance immensely disturbing. Learning
should be a way of liberation and, as I see it, it cannot be achieved while being shackled by the
suspicious eye of the school management. Putting up cameras in classrooms will be an invasion
of privacy, no less! This will definitely restrict students’ freedom and make them insecure as
the thought of being apprehended will always cling in their mind. Therefore, the effect of these
intrusive devices will surely be detrimental to academic performances.

On the other hand, proponents of the idea argue that this is the best way to mend the ways of
troublemakers. As the saying goes, “while the cat’s away, the mice will play”, the incidents of
preposterous behaviour issues are quite prevalent in the blind spot of the teacher. The feeling
of being observed will indeed curb such issues as bullying or distractions by leaps and bounds.
This means that there will be little, if any, classroom management issues for teachers and thus
lessons can be conducted without disruptions.

In summary, considering the pros and cons of the proposal, I am of the opinion that security
cameras have no place in schools as they deprive students of a blithe learning experience and
make them feel like miscreants. An efficient teacher is what is all needed to combat all sorts of
discipline problems, not cameras!
 A plan to build a zoo

Male’ – the smallest and the most crowded capital in the world allows a proper habitat for a few
domestic animals such as cats, birds and fishes. In this discipline, a plan to build a zoo in this
town can either open up opportunities for development or create health issues due to
congestion. The real question at hand is, “Is it really worth building a zoo here?”

A zoo in town will open up new employment opportunities such as veterinarians, zoo keepers
and animal explorers. It creates a necessity to build an animal hospital creating more vacancy
for different levels of people such as maintenance and Doctors. Moreover, the increment in the
tourist visitors would all boost up the economic growth in the country.

However, a zoo in this already congested town could pose a serious danger to the health of the
residents. Improper care for the animals could result in spreading of dangerous, contagious
diseases which could become epidemic. In addition, the noise and air pollution created due to
heavy traffics around the zoo would cause problems for residents living nearby.

It is also important to consider the high cost of building and maintaining the zoo in order to
create a hospitable environment for different kinds of animals. For instance, providing a correct
temperature and appropriate food for the different animals would be time consuming and
expensive. Ensuring adequate space for the animals would cause problems to the already
overcrowded city.

Therefore, I would like to say that although building a zoo could be beneficial financially
boosting our economic growth, it is not feasible to maintain a healthy zoo and it poses a greater
threat to the environment and health of the residents of this town and country.

Are you counting the days until you can drive your own car? It all sounds fascinating, but have
you ever thought of the down side of driving?

Nowadays, a lot of us complain about the increase in pollution in our neighbourhood. One
root cause of this, as you would agree, is actually the number of cars we drive.

First of all, smoke and fumes emitted from the vehicles pollute the air and make it unhealthy
for us. Consequently, we might face breathing problems and other health issues.

Another problem is the danger of accidents. As the number of cars increase, the roads
become too cramped, which makes it impossible for cars to move easily. As a result, more
accidents occur, putting our lives at risk.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that cars cause more problems and we need to consider a
better alternative, perhaps, riding a bike or walking to your destinations. Even if you are
behind those wheels, do consider the environment
 Buying locally produced food items

As we all know that helping others is encouraging them to help us back. As far as I
am concerned, we should help the local farmers by buying locally- produced products.

The foremost advantage of buying local products is that the farmers will certainly
help to improve the infrastructure of the local area through the taxes they pay to local
government. If we buy local products, the money will stay in the area and the local people’s
living standard will improve.

Another advantage of the idea is that we will get fresh products. The imported
products can go stale quite easily. They may not be fresh and due to that there is a likelihood
of suffering from illness by using such items that have travelled miles through varied
temperatures.

On the other hand, all the products are not made locally so we are left with no
alternative but to buy imported products in order to fulfil our basic needs. This means that
we cannot simply rely on only local food items.

Furthermore, local products are often more expensive than imported products
because imported products are mass produced and bought in bulk. It is the consumers who
enjoy the affordable prices of imported items and hence they have a strong preference for
that.

Taking everything into account, to my mind, the best way is to buy local products
because it is senseless to put our mere health at risk by consuming imported items for a little
reduction in price.

people’s standard of living will most assuredly improve. This can have a positive impact
on the crippled national economy.

On the contrary, local producers cannot produce all the items we need.
Therefore, importing food items are some things we cannot avoid. Foreign famers can
sometimes happen to be more reliable suppliers than their local counterparts.

In addition, consumers often argue that local farmers rip them off as it is often
the case that local famers produce in little quantity unlike mass-producing foreign
farmers. This can explain the high prices of local products and public worry.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that a little increase in the price of food items
is worth the fresh fruits and vegetables the local farmers provide us with. And even the
prices can be lowered with government subsidies to local farmers.

Until recently, humans were said to have three basic necessities- food, shelter and
clothing. Now a vast majority of people consider education in the same magnitude of
significance. Education, for me, is an indispensable element for career prospects and
success in life at large.

is hugely unlikely to be accepted by the society. Thus one should understand that
education is just one of the pillars of a successful life and building a character counts in
the same level of priority.

future and it even helps to shape up our personality and attitude towards life.

the residential area, the ear-splitting noise of planes landing and taking-off will disturb
local people’s sleep. This can have detrimental effects such as stress and insomnia.

Not only noise pollution, but also loss of farm lands is a huge disadvantage of the
scheme. Since it needs a lot of space to construct an airport, the farm lands have to be
cleared. As a consequence, crop yields will fall and cause worry to the farmers. Moreover,

Wouldn’t you want to get along with new friends from another country? Certainly
you will cherish the idea. If you are interested, why don’t you take part in a special
international sports event conducted in another country?

Unquestionably, being a part of the team will be an unforgettable experience as

well as an honour. It will be a great chance to meet new friends and know about their
culture. This will help increase our general knowledge and exposure to the outside world.
This will surely be useful for school subjects like social studies.

such events we can strengthen the relationship with the fellow team mates and our

Many of us take one thing with us wherever we go. Chewing gum has become just like a
staple food to a great many youngsters. However, this “fashionable act” of the youth has
attracted criticism from some health experts.

Some lazy people just throw gums on the street after chewing. This is indeed a cause
for worry as the gums stick underneath footwear of pedestrians. In most scenarios the
sticky gums will not be easy to remove and thus a lot of people may be forced to discard
their most adored shoes, for example. Moreover, throwing gums makes the street dirty.
A city with streets stained with gums would of course be a repellent for tourists and
visitors. This means that the carelessness of youngsters can have far-reaching
implications on the image of the city and its lifeblood – tourism.

triggered by chewing gums with an empty stomach. It is medically proven that the
digestive acids produced when one is chewing gums can harm internal organs and cause

Would you prefer to spend your whole life doing household works without having
any excitement? If not, I believe that robots are your best companions which could help
you actualise your dream of avoiding household chores.

On the plus side, robots can do all the household works so that housewives would
have less works, such as cleaning the house, doing dishes and laundry. Therefore,

to ease international communication. The spread of English, however, may not
always be beneficial.

All in all, I strongly believe that having English to communicate world-wide is a

fascinating idea underlying the fact that it would be easy to communicate
across border. Eventually, we could see a world far more understanding and
collaborative and the setbacks of learning English could be minimised if
parents and authorities were more responsible.
