9. Explain the active material of a lead acid battery. Explain discharging and charging processes
of lead acid battery with suitable diagram.
10. Define Kirchhoff’s voltage laws and current laws.
11. Find the voltage across the capacitor of 5 microfarad
12. What do you mean by inductance, self-inductance, mutual inductance and coefficient of
coupling? Derive formula for inductance of a coil.
13. Explain the behaviour of AC flowing through a pure inductor L . Prove that with the help of
phasor diagrams & equations that current lags the voltage by 90 degree and power drawn
over a half cycle is zero.

14. The field coils of a 6-pole d.c. generator each having 500 turns, are connected in series. When
the field is excited, there is a magnetic flux of 0.02 Wb/pole. If the field circuit is opened in
0.02 second and residual magnetism is 0.002 Wb/pole, calculate the average voltage which is
induced across the field terminals.
