Homework Assignment: Password Security

Objective: To learn and practice the principles of creating strong and secure passwords.

Instructions:

Part 1: Password Creation

1. Create a Strong Password: Generate a strong and secure password for one of
your online accounts (e.g., email, social media, or a gaming platform). Follow the
guidelines discussed in class:
 Make it at least 12 characters long.
 Include a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special
characters.
 Avoid using easily guessable information, such as your name or common
phrases.
2. Write Down Your Password: Write down the strong password you created on a
piece of paper. Keep it in a safe place where only you can access it. Do not store it
electronically.

Part 2: Password Analysis

3. Analyze an Existing Password: If you have an existing online account with a

password, analyze its strength. Answer the following questions about your current
password:
 Is it at least 12 characters long?
 Does it include a mix of character types (uppercase, lowercase, numbers,
special characters)?
 Is it a unique password not used for other accounts?
 Does it follow best practices for password security?

Part 3: Reflection and Research

4. Reflect on Password Security: Write a short paragraph (about 100-150 words)

reflecting on the importance of password security. Include why it is crucial to have
strong passwords and how they contribute to online safety.
5. Research Password Managers: Research and list at least two password
manager apps or software that can help you securely manage and store your
passwords. Include their names and a brief description of their features.

Submission: Submit your completed homework to the teacher by the specified due
date.
