SHORT FILM.

-Nature in the beginning (mountains, sea, wild life, marine life) we have to show their beauty.
-Then, little damaged Environment shots.
-Movie name will appear shortly after in it's background we'll put the image of either beauty or
damaged parts of the environment or both shown in half sections.
°The story begins: A fisher man comes from work( appearance - old/dirty shalwar kameez
colour should be other than white any light colour) opens the door of his house ( ‫)جھوپڑی‬,
changes his shirt, hangs it on a wall. ( Comes in banyan and shalwar), goes to kitchen washes
hand , takes out food for himself, sits on floor turns on tv or radio.
News going on about floods. He passes a comment ye akhir kab tak hoga? Kab tak aisa rahey
ga akhir?( With sad and tensed facials expressions) then keeps the plate in kitchen and goes to
sleep either on floor or charpai.
Then the rest continues (just the kid has been replaced by fisher man)
–The fisher man sleeping on floor or (‫)چارپائی‬, Dim lights or lamplights (‫)مومبتی‬, see's a dream
in which there is chaotic situation everywhere, everyone running, (thunderstorm ), he see's
everything destroyed in (fast forward), opens his eyes and runs out his shack to see what he
saw in his dream.( Location changes) he's trying to recognize where he's, moves forward and
suddenly a hand comes on his shoulder, movie name appears, see's a person in his dream who
will say to the kid, don't be scared son it's just your dream but the near future if we together
didn't take any immediate action.
Fisher man: how can we save it sir?
Man: come with me son.
-The man shows the Fisher man burning Fossil fuel's and (GHG) emission coming out of
industries. And says ''Factories of the world from many centuries have been growing and
expending and to run these, people have been using fossil fuels like coal, petroleum and natural
gas.)
Visual representation of above will be (fire shots, burning clips of coal, oil ship, gas and thar coal
mining images or clips.) So the smoke from burning all these fossil fuels causes air pollution and
different diseases like esthma and respiratory diseases.)
Visual representation of above will be ( hospital, people/kids coughing, ambulance shots- siron
voice must to put an emotional impact)
-Man says: If we all do not come together my son, nothing in this world will survive. Everything
will be destroyed by the green house effect.
-fisher man : what is green house effect sir?
-Man explains green house effect, son, a huge amount of CO2 is being added to the air
because of burning fossil fuels as the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere is increasing the
temperature of the Earth is rising which has already grown by 1.3 °C compared to preindustrial
era revolution, The main (GHGs) are CO2, methan (CH4) and nitrous oxide (N2O), the use of
fossil fuels mainly oil, natural gas and coal in the energy generation, transport and industrial
processes has resulted in the increase in greenhouse gases concentration by more than 50% in
the atmosphere since the industrial revolution. the share of fossil fuels in energy generation of
Pakistan is 60.9%. The share of hydropower and nuclear energy is 24% and 11.2%
respectively. While the share of clean renewable energy in total energy mix of Pakistan is less
than 5%. The greater contributions in energy sector came from transport and electricity
[Link] ranks 8th in countries most vulnerable to climate change with share in GHG
emissions less than 0.8%. The climate change impacts are being observed to be getting
extreme in the recent times. In just last year, the people of Pakistan had to cope with extreme
heatwaves in the early summer season, glacial lake outburst floods in the North, biblical rainfalls
with unexpected intensity resulting in climate-induced devastating floods during monsoon
season, and smog and other air pollution issues during winter in the metropolitan cities.
Warmingg above 1.5°C risks further sea level rise, extreme weather, biodiversity loss and
species extinction, as well as food scarcity, worsening health, poverty for millions of people
worldwide and the melting of the ice caps and leading to severe floods as happened last year..
Visual representation of above
(-NOTE: In above conversation of the Fisher and man the shots will be displayed on screen
according to their conversation, plus above conversation is complex it will be precised once we
start working on it.(dialogues will be converted into Urdu language)
-FUTURE- The man will show fisher man future and will say look son this is going to be the
near future if we didn't take any action and used alternatives of Fossil fuel )
Visual representation ( people dying in the hospitals by esthma, due to sever heatwaves animal
species getting extinct, agriculture getting destroyed, food scarcity rising, floods, crowded cities,
people on roads with some luggage in their hands and head, empty small huts, everything
messy, kid crying for food etc.)
Man: Fossil fuels are causing disastrous impact on the environment people will loose their
homes again as they had to in 2022 floods. they will have to leave their lands, work, and move
to cities hopelessly completely dependent on the government's help. Climate models predict
that Earth's global average temperature will rise an additional 4º C (7.2° F) during the 21st
Century if greenhouse gas levels continue to rise at present levels.
Man: puts hand on kid's shoulder and says don't be afraid son this is the future but we
collectively can save it if we want to.
kid: how sir? Wht should we do to save it?
Man: will show alternatives of fossil fuel, factories running through wind mills and solar panels,
hydroelectric dams, tidal energy ( these shots can be taken from highway side cement factories
etc)( if not possible to shoot we can download video clips that do not claim copy right, from
website told by gfx mentor) ( but not sure if we can find similar shots, will look into this) or can
use VFX.
Man: since the Fossil fuels are no longer burnt and are replaced by wind mills and solar panels,
the green house effect will be no more and earth will become green and livable again.
Visual representation (will show wind mills, solar panels etc, kids playing in park clean
environment, cycles, electric vehicles if found etc)
Fisher man: sir, what should we do now to reduce the catastrophic impact of fossil fuels?
Man :To reduce the disastrous impact of using coal, petroleum natural gas
This can be achieved if we put taxes on fossil fuels and that tax money should be spent on
subsidizing renewable energy such as solar, wind turbines and hydroelectric energy this way all
air and water pollution will eventually be eliminated.
Visual Representation of above ( T A X will appear through graphics and rest according to the
text or money in hands)
-The man will slow down his walk , smiles and disappears.
Fisher man looks behind and says app ney apna naam to bataya nahi? Then he see's the man
is not there and he moves ahead.

THE END.

The primary human activities contributing to the increase of greenhouse gases include the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, petroleum, and natural gas in industrial processes, energy generation, and transportation. These activities result in increased emissions of CO2, methane (CH4), and nitrous oxide (N2O), leading to global warming and climatic disruptions. The environmental impacts include air pollution causing health issues like asthma, increased Earth temperature leading to extreme weather events, loss of biodiversity, and potential food scarcity .

The fisherman's dream serves as an allegory for a potential future scenario where the lack of immediate action on current environmental degradation leads to catastrophic consequences. The dream visualizes chaotic and destructive scenes, highlighting the dangers of continued greenhouse gas emissions and fossil fuel use. This allegory emphasizes that if such practices persist, the environment will become inhospitable, exemplified by disaster scenes, species extinction, and human displacement, thereby urging collective action to avert these outcomes .

The narrative effectively uses visual storytelling by depicting the stark realities of environmental degradation alongside possible future outcomes, which enhances understanding of complex climate issues. By showing both damaged environments and the potential green futures from renewable energy adoption, the film makes abstract concepts tangible and relatable. This approach enables viewers to grasp the urgency of climate action visually, as they can directly see the consequences and solutions, thus facilitating a deeper comprehension and emotional connection to the issue .

The film's introduction contrasts the natural beauty of undisturbed environments with scenes of environmental degradation to effectively set a somber and reflective tone for the story. This juxtaposition highlights what is at stake and underscores the severity of the environmental issues at hand. By visually contrasting these extremes, it emphasizes the urgency for preserving nature and addressing the consequences of human activities, thereby engaging viewers to consider their role in environmental protection .

The narrative weaves hope and responsibility by presenting dire future scenarios alongside potential solutions through renewable energy. The presence of the guide character, who educates the fisherman about environmental issues and their solutions, instills a sense of responsibility and agency. The narrative provides a hopeful vision of a sustainable future if actions are taken, thus motivating viewers to think about their contributions towards positive environmental change. It emphasizes collective action, suggesting that individual responsibilities collectively can lead to significant environmental preservation .

The narrative vividly depicts potential futures where renewable energy adoption becomes a necessity to avoid catastrophic outcomes. By showing dystopian futures resulting from fossil fuel reliance and contrasting them with positive scenarios achieved through sustainable energy, the story highlights the urgency of transitioning to renewables. The depiction of clean energy solutions like solar and wind power provides a clear, visual representation of a viable path forward, thus conveying the critical need for immediate action .

The high dependency on fossil fuels in Pakistan greatly affects both urban and rural environments. In urban areas, it exacerbates air pollution issues such as smog, impacting health and living conditions. Rural areas face the impact of climate change with increased instances of extreme weather, affecting agriculture, living standards, and resulting in displacement. This dependence thus creates a cycle of environmental degradation and economic stress on communities, both urban and rural, demonstrating a critical need for sustainable energy solutions .

If global temperatures continue to rise, the narrative predicts severe environmental and social consequences, including more extreme weather events, biodiversity loss, and food scarcity. Rising temperatures could lead to higher sea levels and melting ice caps, which would exacerbate flooding and lead to the displacement of populations. Socially, this would cause increased poverty, health issues, and strain on resources, as people become more reliant on government aid due to environmental disasters .

The narrative proposes several solutions to mitigate the impact of fossil fuels, including transitioning to renewable energy sources like wind turbines, solar panels, and hydroelectric power. It suggests imposing taxes on fossil fuels to fund the subsidization of cleaner energy alternatives. This transition aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, thereby alleviating air and water pollution, and contributing to a healthier, sustainable environment .

Fossil fuels constitute 60.9% of Pakistan's energy generation, making them the predominant source over renewables. This heavy reliance has significant implications for the country's climate vulnerability, as Pakistan ranks 8th among nations most susceptible to climate change effects. Despite contributing less than 0.8% to global GHG emissions, Pakistan faces extreme weather conditions such as heatwaves and floods, exacerbating socio-economic vulnerabilities .
