CHAPTER 2
METHODS
This chapter entails research design, respondents of the study sampling
technique, instrument used, validation of the instrument, data gathering procedures and
statistical treatment of data, material used and procedures.
Research Design
Respondents of the Study
This study shows the frequency and percentage of respondents.
TABLE 1: Respondents of the Study
RESPONDENTS FREQUENCY PERCENTAGE
*Respondents 1 50%
5
*Respondents 2 5 50%
TOTAL 10 100%
Table 1 shows the frequency distribution of the two groups of respondents. It is
shown in the table that five (5) or fifty (50) percent of the respondents were
Respondents 1 and five (5) or fifty (50) percent were Respondents 2.
Sampling Technique
This study applied a sampling technique to gather necessary data
from respondents. According to . According A

Instrument Used
The instrument utilized in this study was the Google form. The first part of the
questionnaire consists of the criteria for assessing the level of materials, procedural
process, durability, and presentation. The last part of the questionnaire was composed
of suggestions and recommendations of the respondents to improve the project.
Construction of the Instrument
The researchers generated a survey questionnaire that comprises two parts.
Part 1. The first part of the questionnaire consists of
Part 2. The last part of the questionnaire consisted of suggestions and
recommendations of the respondents to improve the project.
Validation of the Instrument
The instrument used was validated by the research adviser, research adviser,
research experts, grammarian and statistician. After the validation, the questionnaire
was pretested to chemical engineers who were not part of the study. The mistakes were
sent to the researchers and revisions were made. The validated questionnaire is ready
to use as an instrument of the study.
Administration and Retrieval of the Instrument
The researchers requested permission from the research adviser for the
dissemination of the survey questionnaire to five (5) Respondents 1 and five (5)
Respondents 2 The researchers utilized a Google Form to distribute the questionnaire
which includes the letter for the respondents who will answer the survey questionnaire,
the collected data can then be encoded by the researchers.
Statistical Treatment of Data
The following statistical tools were used in this study.
1. Weighted Mean. The weighted mean is a statistical measure that considers the
relative relevance, or “weight,” of each data point in a dataset. Salkind (2020)
Formula:
Where:
x = Weighted mean
∑ fx = Total frequency and response
n = total number of respondents
TABLE 2: Likert Scale. It is a type of rating scale that is commonly used in surveys and
questionnaires to measure attitudes or opinions. Bryman (2020)
Weighted Verbal
Rating Description
Mean Interpretation
If the statement strongly
4 3.26-4.00 Highly Acceptable agrees for the assessment
(HA) of developed commercial
paper bag
3 2.51-3.25 Acceptable (A) If the statement agrees for
the assessment of
developed commercial
paper bag
If the statement disagrees
2 1.76-2.50 Least Acceptable for the assessment of
(LA) developed commercial
paper bag
If the statement strongly
1 1.00-1.75 Not Acceptable disagrees for the
(NA) assessment of developed
commercial paper bag
2. T-test. It was used to determine the significant difference
between the assessment of the two respondents in terms of materials, procedural
process, durability, and presentation.
Formula:
Where:
t = Computed value
x 1 = Mean of the chemical engineers
x 2 = Mean of the environmental engineers
s1 = Variance of the chemical engineers
s2 = Variance of the environmental engineers
n1 = Group of chemical engineers
n2 = Group of environmental engineers
Construction of the Project
The following procedures were undertaken in the process of developing and
constructing the (Project).
Material Used
This study utilized the material needed to conduct the experiment as shown in
the table below.
