Project title Final Major Project – FMP SYSTEMS

Section A: Your Hypothesis - What are you proposing to do and why? (approx. 200 words)

The proposal will be for a business man’s family as modular house design located in the city of Portsmouth.
The building will be a family house as for the client needs and will have the cantilever projection which will
be the balcony. The house will be made out of sustainable materials like wood, glass and concrete for the
cantilever. The proposal is of a 2-floor building and two bedrooms with an inner swimming pool as per the
clients need and will have a back yard for the family to have a fun or have barbeque. The budget of the
proposal is above 200 thousand British pounds.

Section B: Project Approach - Your plan or intention (approx. 200 words)

The main purpose of this will be for a family to call it home and to get the family environment in it so I have
also considered the clients need in this proposal. The ground floor will be of rectangular shape and the front
elevation will show the top two corners of the beam curved to show good appearance. The main door will
be made of wood and glass. The living space will be really big as the clients have a child and dog so the
right side will be the living space were the family can watch TV and spend time together and the left space
will be open for the kid to play with the dog or used when there is more guest. The indoor swimming pool
will be the ground floor projecting towards the backyard. The swimming pool will be of a closed room so
that the kid will not enter there until a guardian is present and it will be for safety. The left side will be the
kitchen and the dining hall which can view the swimming pool as the wall is of glass. The right side will be
the stairs leading to the first floor. The two bedrooms will be on the first floor followed by the study room
which will be sound proof and can be used as a meeting room.

Section C: Evaluation - What might the outcomes be? Note: this might change during the project,
but this is about suggesting methods of evaluation and possible outcomes (approx. 200 words)

The initial plan was to create a floor building with a rectangular shape with the curve on the top two corners
of the front elevation of the ground floor and a square with the mid-point line raised creating a roof for the
first floor and for the cantilever I was going to add a curved like an arc shape cantilever balcony which will
be
Starting from the top side of the ground floor plan and can be accessed from the 1 st floor but then while
putting out the ideas together it did not make the appearance or what I wanted so I made an elongated
balcony for the 1st floor acting as the cantilever and followed by another elongated beam as the shade for
the balcony. The base and top will be made by concreate and the balcony stand it will be made of glass.

1
 Proposed research sources- The research I made was about what is the cantilever beam to know
the exact thing of what I’m going to do and what is modular building. The research was useful as I
got a quite depth of ideas and wanted to play with the ideas. The cantilever can also be a projection
which can be a balcony so I used that concept to make the building.
