COURSE POLICIES & STANDARDS

• Students’ conduct in class and toward professor, team-mates, and classmates is expected to be
professional, ethical, respectful, responsible, and collegial, reflecting serious commitment. Any
disrespect towards me or any other student will lead to automatically failing this class and being
banned from attendance.
• You are expected to attend all class meetings. I will take roll on random days. 3 absences will be
excused. After the excused absences, 20 points will be off your class involvement grade for each
additional absence. Thus make-up exams should only be necessary in the case of an emergency,
illness, or scheduled CSUN activities and must be pre-approved.

2
• You must be present in the class to take the midterm and final exams. Please make sure your laptop is
fully charged for each class and exam.
• Your 2 lowest homework and quiz grades will be dropped. HENCE, NO MAKE UP IS ALLOWED
REGARDLESS OF CIRCUMSTANCE!
• Hardware/Software - Almost all assignments and exercises in this class require Windows or Mac Excel
and Tableau. The instructor's workstation in the classroom is a Windows PC and lectures have been
designed for Windows Excel. However, students can use either the Windows version or the Mac
version of Excel. If you do not have a Windows/Mac laptop, you can visit
[Link] to learn how to check out a Windows laptop via the
Device Loaner Program. Please bring your fully charged Windows or Mac laptop to every class.

Alternate Lab (or Alt Lab). “Labs” will be assigned during class and must be completed during class.
Alt Labs are Homework. If you are absent on lab days, you will have to complete the assignment at
home before the end of the class.
