The class will be divided into five groups.

Each group will pick one


representative. The task of the representative is to read the sentence given
by the teacher that contains hyperbole, meanwhile, the task of the group is
to guess the meaning of the sentence containing a hyperbole.

Mechanics:

a. The representative will read the sentence twice.


b. When the students hear the word “go”, they will start their
brainstorming.
c. They will be given 30 seconds to think and tell their answer.
d. In case of a late response, the group’s answer will not be credited, but
they may participate again in the next item.
e. The highest pointer will be declared as the winner.

1.”I’ve told you a million times to clean your room!”

Meaning: The speaker has repeated the request many times, though not
literally a million.

2.“I’m so tired I could sleep for a year.”

Meaning: The speaker is very tired and exaggerates the extent of their
fatigue.

3.“This bag weighs a ton!”

Meaning: The bag is very heavy, but it doesn’t literally weigh a ton.

4.“She’s as old as the hills.”

Meaning: The person is very old, though not literally as old as hills.

5.“I’ll be there in five minutes!”

Meaning: The speaker is likely running late and exaggerates how soon they
will arrive.
6.“He runs faster than the speed of light.”

Meaning: The person is very fast, but not literally faster than light.

7.“I’m so hungry I could eat a horse.”

Meaning: The speaker is very hungry, using exaggeration to emphasize their


hunger.

8.“The classroom was so noisy, it was like a zoo!”

Meaning: The noise level was extremely high, but not literally like a zoo.

9.“I have a ton of homework tonight.”

Meaning: The speaker has a lot of homework, not literally a ton.

10.“Her smile was a mile wide.”

Meaning: The person’s smile was very big, not literally a mile in width.
