1. -1/2
2. -5
3. 2.23
4. +6
5. -8
Review:
Name a positive or negative number to represent each situation.
1. gain of 5 points
2. 8 steps backward
3. a loss of 100 pesos
Motivation:
-What can you see in the picture?
- Are you familiar with the places above?
-As Taytayeños, how are you going to show your patriotism in your town?
B. Teaching Look and observe the number line .
Modelling
Answer the ff. questions:
What is a number line?
- A number line is a straight line with numbers placed at equal intervals it can be
extended infinitely in both directions.
What is the purpose of number line?
- It is used to demonstrate the addition, subtraction, division and times table
questions.
How can we use number line in real life?
- It can be used to convert between different units of measure.
Example: Compare the ff. pair of integers.
As we observe the number line, we can state that the ff.
Arrange the ff. integers from the least to greateast.
a. -3, -8, -5,9,6, 0
b. -2, 5, 7, -8, -1, -5
Arrange the ff. integers from the greatest to least.
a. -4, -1, 4, 7, 8, 0
b. 6, -2, -5, 7, 0, 2
Value Focus: Patronizing our town’s own product.
C. Guided Practice Compare the given integers. Write, ‹, ›, = on each blank.
1. 5 ___ -8
2. -7 ___ 2
