resulting cuboid.
10. If the ratio of volumes of two spheres is 1:8. Find the ratio of their surface areas.
11. A rectangular sheet of paper is 22 cm long and 12 cm wide. A cylinder is formed by
rolling the paper along its length. Find the volume of the cylinder.
12. A cone of height 24 cm and radius of base 6 cm is made up of modelling clay. A child
reshapes it in the form of a sphere. Find the radius of the sphere.
13. From a solid cube of side 7 cm, a conical cavity of height 7 cm and radius 3 cm is
hollowed out. Find the volume of the remaining solid.
LONG ANSWER QUESTIONS
14. A rectangular sheet of paper is 22 cm long and 12 cm wide. A cylinder is formed by
rolling the paper along its length. Find the volume of the cylinder.
15. A factory manufactures 120000 pencils daily. The pencils are cylindrical in the shape
each of length 25 cm and circumference of the base as 1.5 cm. Determine the cost of
manufacture of pencils at the rate ₹ 0.05 per cm3
16. Mayank made a bird-bath for his garden in the shape of a cylinder with a
hemispherical depression at one end, as shown in the figure. The height of the
cylinder is 1.45 m, and its radius is 30 cm. Find the total surface area of the bird-
bath. (Take π = 22/7)
ASSERTION AND REASON QUESTIONS
Directions: In the following questions, a statement of assertion (A) is followed by a
statement of reason (R). Mark the correct choice as:
(a) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true and reason (R) is the correct explanation
of assertion (A).
(b) Both assertion (A) and reason (R) are true but reason (R) is not the correct
explanation of assertion (A).
(c) Assertion (A) is true but reason (R) is false.
(d) Assertion (A) is false but reason (R) is true.
17. Assertion (A): Two identical solid cubes of side a are joined end to end. Then the
total surface area of the resulting cuboid is 10a2
Reason (R): The total surface area of a cube having side a = 6a2
18. Assertion (A): Total surface area of the cylinder having radius of the base 14 cm and
height 30 cm is 3872 cm2.
Reason (R): If r be the radius and h be the height of the cylinder, then total surface
area = (2πrh + 2πr2).
