Overview:
The Junction is looking for a Development & Operations Manager to join our
dynamic startup team to drive our business and organizational growth.
Together with the co-founders, the Development and Operations Manager will help
to achieve our goal of building a sustainable performing arts venue in Dubai.
We are looking for an excellent communicator from any background who has the
ability to build strong relationships with clients, founders, sponsors and the wider
community; who has skills in making new strategic and business connections; and is
able to support the execution of events.
The ideal candidate would be someone with a strong passion for performing arts
and a positive "get it done" mentality.
Duties:
- Managing The Junction’s relationships with current and potential clients.
- Custodian of the calendar for the venue. Lead and advise with scheduling and
execution of events at The Junction in conjunction with the wider team.
- Support in conceptualizing and executing organic Junction events.
- Develop content for press releases, website, proposals and social media.
- Direct the entire fundraising campaign by identifying, prospecting and
approaching potential donors and sponsors; following up on all existing
leads, and consistently working to generate new leads.
- Serve as front of house manager for events at The Junction.
- Provide direction to and manage team of 2-4 individuals who will eventually
be hired at The Junction.
Basic Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business or arts
administration
- Ability to professionally and effectively communicate via email, over the
phone and in person as a representative of The Junction
- Good computer application and database skills, including strong knowledge
of Word & Excel
- High attention to detail and flexibility while in working in a lean startup
environment.
Desired Skills:
- Work experience in performing arts, community events or fundraising is a
plus.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator.
- Knowledge of written and spoken Arabic is a plus but not a must.
Note: Night and weekend hours will be required especially in the early months of
starting up. In fact working hours may even start late afternoon till 10pm. Majority
of the events are scheduled from Thursday-Saturday, hence days off will include
Sunday and another day. Flexible working will be provided to but also expected
from the ideal candidate.
