What will we learn along
this module?
OBJECTIVES
• To familiarise ourselves with the process of acquiring and learning the
mother tongue and second languages in early education, both theoretically
and practically.
• To be able to distinguish between language acquisition and language
learning.
• To identify and put into practice different techniques (story telling, songs,
task-based activities, etc.) to keep student’s attention focussed and to
develop interaction and cooperation.
• To reflect on the processes of acquiring and learning a language in early
education.
• To introduce the Jolly Phonics methodology (what it is, its characteristics and
pedagogical possibilities).
