REFLECTION IN EDUC 106
Assessment in learning is a captivating subject that explores the
important relationship between evaluation and educational outcomes.
Through my studies, I have gained a deeper understanding of the
importance of assessment and evaluations. I have learned about various
assessment types, including formative assessments, which provide
ongoing feedback during the learning process, and summative
assessments, which evaluate student learning at the end of an
instructional period. The role of assessments in identifying learning gaps,
guiding instructional decisions, and promoting student motivation is
particularly intriguing. Additionally, the impact of assessment on
educational equity raises important questions about how we can ensure
all students are given fair opportunities to demonstrate their
understanding. This exploration of assessment highlights its importance
in measuring academic success and invites curiosity about innovative
assessment practices that can enhance learning experiences for diverse
learners. I gained a lot of knowledge through the semester that helped
me to be molded as a future educator from the different lessons in
Chapters 1 to 5.
As I prepare for my future teaching profession, applying assessment
principles will be fundamental to my teaching philosophy. I envision
creating a classroom where assessments are not merely tools for grading
but integral components of the learning process. By employing a variety
of assessment methods, such as project-based assessments, peer
evaluations, and self-assessments, I can gain a comprehensive
understanding of my students' strengths and areas for growth. This
knowledge will enable me to differentiate instruction effectively, ensuring
that each student receives the personalized support they need to
succeed. Moreover, I aim to foster a growth mindset in my students by
using assessments as opportunities for reflection and improvement
rather than just as endpoints. This approach not only promotes a positive
learning environment but also empowers students to take ownership of

The subject of Assessment in Learning is very challenging to deal with
because many assessment tools were presented to us that are unfamiliar.
One of the challenges I met in this subject is that one of our majors is
related to this subject, but our instructor fails to teach us because she’s
always traveling. Unlike the other majors that also had an assessment in
their subject, so they can engage well in the discussion. Challenges have
occurred, but it is still a joyful experience where I gained a lot of
knowledge and experience that will surely benefit me as a future
educator. My experience with Assessment in Learning has broadened my
understanding of evaluation's crucial role. I'll continue refining my
assessment skills to enhance educational effectiveness. In conclusion, I
believe that assessment in learning goes beyond just measuring student
performance; it's about enriching the entire educational experience. When used
effectively, it can truly transform both teaching and learning. By incorporating a
