Introduction

Adhering to the pharmacist licensure requirement of the Pharmacy Council of Ghana, I was assigned a
hospital internship for nine month at the 37 Military hospital in Accra. The nine month internship span
which began June 20 were with a lot of pharmacist both soldiers and civilians who acted as my
preceptors, with the main preceptor being Major Richard Osei-Boateng.

This report covers the first four weeks of my internship at the 37 Military hospital, particularly the
dispensary department.

Main Dispensary

Orientation and introduction to the hospital was done in the first week of internship with the main
dispensary, chemist and medical store being our center of focus.

The main dispensary is the department that serves the entitled patients, that is the defense employees
and their families both inpatient and ambulatory patients.

The pharmacist at the main dispensary receives prescriptions, check it, prepackage medications, label it,
dispense and counsel patients appropriately in quest of performing their duties. Acquisition of drugs,
consumables and receipt of bulk supplies from the distribution store are all done at the main dispensary.

In the second week, I took some lessons on the laws and in the subsequent days in the same week did
some presentations on it.

I also had the opportunity to take a quiz on malaria in the third week and also had presentation on it.

The final week of my first four weeks of my internship period bear a task of me taking a quiz on
hypertension and also presenting on it.
