Deepavali rituals of coastal karnataka -skit
As we celebrate the vibrant festival of Deepavali, let's take a moment to explore the
unique and deeply rooted customs of Coastal Karnataka. Deepavali, while known for
lights, sweets, and celebrations, holds a special meaning for the people of this region.
Nidhi:
"That's right! Here, in the heart of Karnataka's coastal areas, this festival is not only
about lighting homes but also about showing reverence to nature, especially the
agricultural lands. The people believe that the land, which nurtures and sustains them,
deserves respect and gratitude."
Sharvi:
One of the most beautiful traditions is the ritual of lighting lamps, or 'Deepa,' in the
fields. These oil lamps are placed on the agricultural land as a symbol of devotion and
thanksgiving, signifying the bond between humans and nature, and hoping for
prosperity in the coming year.
Nidhi:
This act of offering light to the land is both spiritual and symbolic. It reflects the belief
that, just as light removes darkness, the Deepa removes obstacles and blesses the land
with fertility and abundance.
Sharvi:
"Indeed, Deepavali here is not just a celebration of victory over darkness, but also an
acknowledgment of the blessings bestowed by Mother Earth. It’s a reminder that the
land is sacred, and its fruits are a gift to humanity.
Now, we will witness a glimpse of rich culture. Let’s welcome JP Ji, Dayanad Ji,
