Now can you guess what is our topic Telling time, Teacher.
for today?
Alright! Our topic for today is about
Telling time.
But before we proceed to our
discussion, I will present a video
presentation for you to be able to
understand more the topic we are
going to discuss today.

Based from the video that was Analog clock and
shown to you earlier, what are the Digital clock.
two types of clock?
D. Discussion Okay, after knowing the two types
of clock. Now, let’s proceed to our
discussion.
Let’s define first what is a clock. A
clock is a device used to tell time. A
clock has two types, the analog
clock and the digital clock.
Let’s have first the analog clock.
An analog clock is a clock that has
moving hands and (usually) hours
marked from 1 to 12 to show you
the time.
The short hand tells the hour of a
day. That is why it is called the hour
hand.
The short hand tells
the hour of a day.
Again class, what is the short hand
That is why it is
tells us?
called the hour hand.
The movement of the short hand
from one number to the next
number is equal to 1 hour. This
movement is equal to 60 minutes.
Yes, teacher.
Do you get it, class?
For you to be able to understand
well the movement of the short
hand from one number to the next
number, we will have a
demonstration.
(Teacher demonstrate the

k
Always remember that the
movement of the short hand from
one number to the next number is
equal to 1 hour. This movement is
equal to 60 minutes.
Now, let’s move on to the long
hand.
The long hand is
The long hand is called the minute called the minute
hand. hand.
Again class, what is the long hand?
Very good.
The movement of the long hand
from one number to the next
number is equal to five minutes.
If the long hand points at 1, we read
it as 5. If it points at 2, we read it as
10, and so on.
We read the number by skip
counting by 5 until it reaches 11. Yes, teacher.
When the long hand points at 12, it
means that 60 minutes or 1 hour
has passed.
Do you get it, class?

Now, let’s have an example.
6:30 A.M.
Ailene wakes up at six o’clock in the
morning. At 6:30 A.M., she takes a
bath. She is ready to go to school at
7:10 A.M.
What time does Ailene take a bath?
6, Teacher.
Now let’s have the analog clock to
show what 6:30 A.M. looks like.

k 6, Teacher.
Which number should we put the
short hand?
Very Good!
How about the long hand?
Very Good!
Now, this is what 6:30 looks like in

our analog clock.
7:10 A.M., Teacher.
What time does Ailene ready to go
to school?
7, Teacher.
Alright! Now let’s have the analog
clock to show what 7:10 A.M. looks
like.

Which number should we put the
short hand?

How about the long hand?
Very Good!
Now, this is what 7:10 looks like in
our analog clock.
40 minutes, Teacher.
How many minutes had past from
the time that Ailene is taking a bath,
up to the time that she is ready to
go to school?
Let’s find it out in our analog clock
to see if your answer is correct.

Very Good!
Now, let’s have another example.

Observe the hands of the clock.
6:00, Teacher.
six o’clock, Teacher.
How do we write the time?
Very Good!
How do we say the time?
Very Good!
What about this one?
6:15, Teacher.
six fifteen, Teacher
How do we write the time?
Very Good!
Yes, Teacher.
How do we say the time?
Very Good!
Remember that a quarter of an hour
is equal to 15 minutes. So, 6:15
means a quarter past 6.
Do you get it, class?
How about this one?
6:30, Teacher.
six thirty, Teacher.
How do we write the time?
Very Good! Yes, Teacher.
How do we say the time?
Joel Junio (kadagleoj@[Link])
lOMoARcPSD|21285621
Very Good!
Remember that half of an hour is
equal to 30 minutes. So, 6:30
means half past six.
Do you get it, class?
Last example.
6:45, Teacher.
six forty-five, Teacher.
How do we write the time?
Very Good!
How do we say the time? Yes, Teacher.
Very Good!
Now, always remember class that
we use A.M. to tell the time in the
morning and P.M. in the afternoon
and evening.
Do you get it, class?
Now, let’s have that the digital
clock.
Unlike the analog clock that tells
time using hands on a dial, digital
clock displays the time in numerical
digits.
Yes, Teacher.
As you can see, the right part tells
the minutes and the left part tells
the hour.

The time shown in the digital clock
is five-thirty in the morning.

E. Exercises That was the end of our discussion
this morning. This time, you have a
short activity to check if you have
learned and understand our lesson
today.
1. Tell the time shown by the
hands of the clock.
9:20
2. Complete the sentence below
by writing the time. Use A.M
or P.M.
6:00 A.M.
The family eats breakfast at _______.
3. Write the time being asked
inside the digital clock. Write
A.M. or P.M. beside the time.

V. Assignment
Now that we are done with our lesson, we should always remember
that knowing how to tell time using analog and digital clock is a very
important skill. State examples in your home, where you can apply the
importance of telling time.
