a) Health informatics concept.
Health Informatics is the use of information technology in healthcare to store, share,
transmit and analyse clinical knowledge and data. For example, one of the most
recognized applications of health informatics is the online medical record.
b) Concept of ethics in medical informatics.
The appropriate use of computers by conscientious users who value patient privacy and
confidentiality are the fundamental pillars of the ethical management of IM tools, and the
balance between clinical management, progress through research and use is based on
these elements.
Appropriate user of applications in Medical Informatics
Efficient use of SEAD requires training, experience and education on the part of the
user, characteristics that define a behavior of technology use, in which the physician
uses the computer application as a reference that is confronted with the diagnostic and
therapeutic objectives, and is contrasted with the accepted clinical practices to achieve
these objectives, including the recognition of the individual characteristics and
requirements of the patient.
Confidentiality and privacy
The main advantage of using computers in medicine is the rapid access to information;
however, the ease of locating data is also its greatest weakness. In principle, clinical
information should only be available to those interested in the patient's medical care;
however, the information may be available to health care personnel who do not need it,
or open to third parties who may use it to inflict physical, emotional or financial harm
on the patient.

This unprecedented explosion of development as a result of the RCT (Scientific

a massive awarding of activity by cybernetics and in others such as medical
research, this can be seen with the use of Telemedicine or distance medicine
where the user can receive distance education, home monitoring of patients,
tele ambulances and tele consultations for remote locations, other facilities are
the use of discussion forums, videos of surgical interventions of operations with
minimal access, the use of the Internet, the telematic health network in Cuba
which is INFOMED, the use of search engines that have updated databases such
as Google and those specialized in health such as BVS of the Americas (Virtual
Health Library of the Americas), Busca Salud, Latin Salud, the Scielo Project,
Medline, Lilacs (Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences),
access to encyclopedias such as Wikipedia, mediating platforms for
management of courses of all kinds such as the Moodle etc. There are countless
services with the resource of the
Information technology and computing with the use of digitalized medical
equipment, that is, cybernetics at the service of Medicine. Currently, the most
efficient equipment is monitored by computers, such as those in the branches
of Imaging, to cite just one example.
In Cuba, even in the face of the background of inequalities imposed by the
international capitalist system, giant steps have been taken in the field of
information technology in medical sciences: Informe, as a health portal, is an
information technology resource that is practically indispensable in research
and medical practice in general, since the use of information technology
diversifies and multiplies research and development.
